@justus
XD
Your uncle was a wise man.
She could bury you in a lot of things. Belly fluff is one of them XD
I’d like such a thing to be able to distinguish between a lot of mythological creatures, actually. It’d probably be too open to interpretation though, since even mythology has a lot of different interpretations of things :D
@Bronydog
It depends which myth you’re referencing. It’s very much accurate to the modern interpretation of a mythological sphinx, but that interpretation is actually a combination of two distinctly different mythological creatures. The Greek sphinx, a malevolent single entity that was sent as a curse of Thebes by Hera, would murder anyone who failed to answer its riddle, and was eventually defeated by Oedipus when he answered its riddle correctly which (depending on the myth) either drove it to commit suicide or just outright killed it and was always depicted as having a female human head, face, and breasts, a lion’s body, wings, and sometimes a serpent for a tail, and the Egyptian sphinx which is a benevolent class of deities that guarded the pharaohs, and could be depicted as having a male or female human head, or a ram’s head, or even the head of a bird. The modern interpretation tends to combine the two, taking the appearance and riddling behavior of the Greek myth and combining it with the Egyptian theme and idea that sphinxes are a group of creatures rather than a single monster. My Sunny Sphinx is very much more faithful to the Greek sphinx, being a simple big riddling monster with no Egyptian ties whatsoever :D
I’m 90% shur this is accurate to neither historically nor mythologically accurate.

I think most of the Roman ones were, for the most part, leftovers from the Greek days :D
Or needed some strong protectors.
They were also used on Roman thrones.
I guess both empires loved cats?
Roman’s have some sphinxes, but there is not much about them. I know that Roman temples could have sacred candlesticks whose feet were shaped like sphinxes. Some of the sphinx statues in Rome are from Egypt.
I’m happy when Sphinx’s exhibit a large amount of cat like qualities, like expressing a overblown sense of superiority and a strong desire to take over the world. :p
But I have to admit that I never researched too closely into the original and classical designs for Sphinx’s, much less that the Roman’s had a Sphinx too?
I know. I’m just saying this specific kind of creature is one that like almost nobody draws “properly”, for lack of a better word. Probably the same could be said for a lot of them, but I really like the “proper” design of sphinxes :P
I swear someone has pointed this out before, but you saying it kinda blows my mind still, the ancient Egyptians and even older people who drew on cave walls were the first people to draw anthro art, furry art and even lewd arts.
I didn’t want to do an anthro though. The vast VAST majority of “sphinx” art (in general, not just MLP) is just anthros or humans with cat ears and wings. I wanted one that actually looked like the mythological sphinx :D
@Ping_chan
XD
If there’s one thing that I have learned by living and working in Vegas, you can’t pick and choose who you get to see naked, of course setting aside entering a professional establishment and exchanging currency to see people naked…
But who actually enjoys spending money??
:D
@Napsack
It’d be like you, a straight man, sitting in a room surrounded by shlongs XD
If sitting in a room and staring at naked people is too much work then I think I need a vacation.
I will express my gratitude as well, while I am someone who enjoys females myself, I also tend to enjoy crazy ass magical creatures that defy all known scientific and biological knowledge of how lifeforms and magic works!, so keep up the good work my good man!
Thanks! I do draw stuff that appeals to me of course, but for the most part I just prefer to draw female stuff :D
Just wanted to thanks you as someone who enjoys gals as well as guys what you’re providing your wonderful art about them too even if you’re not interested in them in that way <3
Gay man :P
@redweasel
I’ll keep it in mind :D
@Napsack
Seems like too much work XD
Just take a griffon swap claws with paws and remove the beak. Blam you have a sphinx.
