Seasons 8-9 are more like the seasons of rehashing.

Why all the downvotes? It’s true. Every design that Faust didn’t make looks like a shoe-horned OC or way-too-complicated draft.

My frustration is that people act like the Student Six and other characters in later seasons are like canon OCs, despite the fact that they’re consistent with the principles of character design from the entire show. Not to mention judging a character on their “OC-ness” based on how they look and not their characterisation is really stupid. Good Characterisation is what makes likeable characters, not how they look, Tyrion Lannister in Seasons 1-4 of GoT is proof positive of that.
 
And as far as OP seems to be telling us, this shit is “OC DONUT STEEL” crap…  
…but a race of immortal god-ponies with the magic of all the other tribes plus super rare cool exclusive magic, that are just better then other ponies in every way and have flowing hair that sparkles and shimmers in the breeze…

pretty standard progression of any show: 1-2 seasons of introduction, 1-2 seasons of character and world building, and if you get to a 5th season with no fans to pander to, you’re probably not getting a 6th season.

Well, if the main cast have pretty much wrapped up the majority of the important bits of their character arcs and the fact that the show has a HUGE cast of characters, surely it couldn’t hurt to at least give them some spotlight, regardless if certain bronies have their headcanons “destroyed.” A particular group of characters I’m referring to are the “Background Six”: Derpy, Doctor Whooves, Vinyl, Octavia, Lyra and Bon Bon.

I actually really like the comics. At this point I consider the comics to be the better product over the show. If anyone who hasn’t consumed any MLP:FIM media were to ask me about going about it, I would tell them to just watch seasons 1-4 (maybe 5) than just read the comics.

No one said anything about bad writing you’re the one who keeps making up stuff to put words in my mouth. I said I am not a fan of this treatment of them. You know what, I do think its bad, I don’t like it. And I for one am tired of that being treated like it’s a bad thing.
 
And if you’re going to contribute so little to this aside from “not true”, “you’re moving goalposts” and “thats not bad writing” I doubt you actually wish to engage in anything and just want to judge others.

Yes I understand that. Its just that my perspective is, I want to watch this show for them. They’re very important to me and its their characters I care about. And when I see them losing a lot of screentime in the last season to develop characters I’m not invested in, who barely even relate to the main cast (unlike say Starlight), then yes I do take issue with it.

I mean they have introduce more characters so they would obviously want to give more light on them plus some of those main six episodes where probably filler also why do we need all of the six appear in a majority the episodes within season nine they have practically gone through their character arc the exception being twilight becoming queen(princess) of Equestria in my opinion I like the students and some of the back ground characters let them have some time to develop and exist as characters.

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe yoy are. Taking a quick glance at the numbers, seems S1-S4 are the most consistent with that. S1 for example 22-23 episode appearances seem to be the average (Twilight of course appearing in all of them ans S3 an obvious exception but has a similar level of consistency). It seems that as of S5 and onwards is when I notice more appearance gaps in the charts.
 
I may advise you this is all a crude estimate, but the basic numbers still show a steady decline in appearances for each of them. And going over the numbers for S9 to ep 13 we have (for speaking roles)  
Twilight: 9  
AJ: 6  
Rarity: 5  
Fluttershy: 7  
Rainbow Dash: 8  
Pinkie Pie: 6
 
Out of 13 eps, for the M6, I find that kinda sad, especially for the last season. And again thats merely if they speak.
