Welcome to the Miracleverse! AKA, the Disliked Ships AU, but I don’t use this as a platform for hate. While the universe is slightly… twisted, they are all options that could have happened in the main TFIMverse. They’re a chance to do things with the… standard ships that people have, and using them in new ways, as well as a platform for interesting characters. And let me say, it’s time for the stuff to begin! Sort of! First of the many times we’ll be doing STORIES in this universe, these are pictures in scenarios that either advance the story, or in this case, provide backstory! They might feature only canon characters, or only OCs, this one features Pink Sparkle Apple/Galaxy Gazer and his mother.
This takes place mere moments before ‘The Map is On, but I’ve placed it in front of ‘The Map is On’ in the link continuity because it runs with the theme of the Cutie Map’s Activation.

I’m genuinely sorry for the long wait between this and the last thing I produced; partially it is because I spent a lot of time on art that I can’t yet show you (IE; Concept sketches and such) because of spoilers, and a strange tired spell I’ve been having for about ten days where I’ve been able to do little but sleep. Also, I know it’s short, but there wasn’t much to do here.

THIS IS PART OF THE OFFICIAL MIRACLEVERSE MAIN PLOT!
PREVIOUS - NEXT

———————————————————————————
It was a calm morning at Sweet Apple Acres when the first strange event of the day occurred; simultaneously with a map turning on for the first time in a quarter of a century halfway across Ponyville, seven ponies’ flanks (or in one’s case, spines) began to glow, their cutie marks emitting a light that was unearthly.

And among the ponies to find this out, one in particular was used to glowing… though he’d be loathe to admit it. Pink Sparkle Apple, or as he would only answer to, Galaxy Gazer, awoke that morning with more than just the light in his mane illuminating the dark room.
“Great; the light was on.” Galaxy Gazer rose out of bed to stare at the lamp on his bedside, but it wasn’t on.

He grumbled further, looking to the only other singular lighting source in his room, a single light bulb dangling precariously from the ceiling. It was equally not lighting the room in any way. He looked at the curtains tightly drawn. Well, that was weird.

At this point, Galaxy Gazer was getting frustrated; too much light in his room would give somepony the impression he enjoyed the light. He spent years carefully cultivating an aura of not caring, and this bright lighting was cutting into that! He couldn’t be a creature of the night when his room was brighter than the darkness in his soul!

As the bleariness in his eyes and the cloud of sleep left him, his eyes finally adjusted to the lighting of his room. The very pink lighting.
He groaned, pulling on his face in frustration. Great; his mane was the light. It was always his mane. He looked at his tail to confirm it, and noticed that there was another light he was emitting.

“OH COME ON!” He suddenly screeched as he looked at his cutie mark, currently glowing bright pink and constantly causing flickering lights to appear.
“What did I do to deserve this? Why, cruel, uncaring universe? It’s not enough for just my mane and tail now? Am I going to turn into a frickin’ lamp!?” He cursed at the ceiling fruitlessly, as if it would change the fact that he was glowing bright enough to turn his previously dark room into what resembled a disco.
Galaxy Gazer stared up at the ceiling for a few more seconds before letting out an annoyed groan and grabbing the covers of his bed and draping them over himself like a vampire’s cloak. If he couldn’t stop it, he could at least hide under his bed and pretend it wasn’t happening.

“Good morning!” He cursed internally; the voice of his ‘beloved’ mother was just outside his door, knocking in a manner which she likely assumed was ‘politely’, but instead rasped against his ears. “Pink Sparkle, sweetie?” She continued, and Galaxy Gazer gritted his teeth. He hated that stupid name. His mom continued knocking.
“Are you asleep still?” She asked, and he responded by grunting just loud enough to let her know that he was there. Normally, he’d stay as silent as the grave that all life was destined for, but his mother would more likely take his silence as an invitation to burst in, panicked.
“Can I come in, Pink Sparkle?” Twilight asked from the other side of the door, pleadingly. But Galaxy Gazer ignored the warble in her voice; nothing would wake him. “Please?”

“No!” Galaxy snapped back, pulling the covers further over himself, hiding even his face from the light. “I’m busy!”

“Busy with what?” Twilight sounded interested…. damnit, now he had to invent something to do.

“I’m busy reading!” He called back, looking at his bookshelf for a minute, scanning for a book he could actually quote… he was a neighilist, sure, but some of Neightzsche’s work was just so hard to read… He couldn’t be bothered; he understood the soul behind the work well enough… better pick a classic. “I’m rereading Celestia is Dead!”

“That’s your favorite book, isn’t it?” Twilight was clearly not getting the point, and was dangerously close to her wanting to read along with him. “You know, I have an annotated copy I’ve always wanted to give you…”

“No, mom, it’s fine!” Galaxy was starting to panic (though he’d call it a healthy sense of caution) and his voice broke slightly. “You don’t need to come in!” He added, trying to sound more assured, but only made his voice break more.

“Are you ok, Pinkadink, honey?” Twilight sounded antsy and concerned, and Galaxy Gazer saw the door open slightly. His eyes widened as she stepped into the room, and let out a very manly protest.

“MOOOO-OOOMMMM GET OUT OF MY ROOOOOOMMM!!!!” He shrieked out as he hunched up in his blanket, his pink mane lighting up twice as bright as before, voice cracking on every syllable, his country accent slipping up slightly.
He was absolutely mortified and his screaming continued as his mother looked increasingly worried, before she did something that surprised him; she took in an incredible gasp of air and her eyes widened, wings flared out in shock.
Galaxy kept up his screeching for a full ten seconds before he was incapable of continuing, slowly petering out as he stared at his mother’s shocked face in confusion. Ok, this was weird. She was just staring at him. “Uhh… Mom?” He asked, nervously

“Pink Sparkle!?” Twilight shakily pointed her hoof at Galaxy’s still glowing cutie mark, her mouth upturned slightly. “When did that show up?” She managed to ask, almost vibrating with glee, concerning her son even further.

“I don’t know, shut up!” Galaxy snapped, blushing out of embarrassment, curling his tail around his Cutie Mark. “This morning, I guess??” He continued, nervous at how excited his mother was.

“…. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” Twilight squealed happily, prancing in place from her excitement. “Do you know what that means?” Twilight stuck her face in Galaxy’s own, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him. “You are destined for friendship!”

“Uh, mom, don’t I get a say in that?” Galaxy Gazer rolled his eyes; his mom could find any excuse for why he was some kind of friendship prodigy in the making. “And for the record, my say is no.”

“Oh sweetie, silly, silly Pink Sparkle… Ignoring your cutie mark is never the answer!” Twilight laughed merrily (if not a little maniacally), letting go of her son’s face. “Especially when this must mean… this… means…” Twilight paused, grinning as widely as her mouth would let her. “You’re destined to go on a friendship quest!”

“What is a friendship quest?” Galaxy asked, confused. “It sounds dumb.” He added, having to keep up his image.

“It’s a magical journey to somewhere far away that needs your specific help to solve their friendship problem! This means the Map of Harmony thinks you’re ready!” Twilight grinned as she motioned and flapped her wings in excitement.

“What exactly is the Map of Harmony?” Galaxy asked, very confused by his mother’s hyperactive antics.

“Well, you remember how I used to live in Starlight Glimmer’s castle? My student?” Twilight asked, and Galaxy Gazer nodded. “Well, the main feature of the castle that.. I still technically own, I suppose…” Twilight seemed to be getting off topic, but shook her head. “Anyway, the whole castle was built around a magical map that would send me and the rest of the Elements of Harmony on friendship quests all over the world.. until Starlight broke it…” She paused.

“She used to be evil, right?” Galaxy Gazer perked up, maybe this would be interesting. “What happened with that?” Galaxy waited for a response, but his mother was paying no attention, clearly doing mental math in her head. “…Mom?”

“Wait a second… if the Cutie Map is working…” Twilight trailed off. “The Cutie Map is on… that means… Starlight fixed it on her own!” She finished her own thought process and suddenly laughed, making a delighted noise, she lit up her horn and teleported out of the room with a loud bang.

Galaxy Gazer decided that he didn’t have the energy to deal with his mother right now, and promptly covered himself up with his blanket, going back to sleep, while his mother shot off to the Crystal Castle.
