Sort of. It stopped short of saying changelings can’t be inanimate objects but did emphasize that mimics can’t be living things.
The intent is still there but can easily be glossed over due to both mediums having a lack of information on changelings.
I’d have to go back and check the comic but I thought a point made in that (which the show just has bulldozed through) was that changelings couldnt turn into inanimate objects while the imps could.
