They turn into pieces of wood so shrivelling makes a whole lot more sense than straight up melting.

The uncensored version melts a lot more and like I said, the censored version cuts away from the shot quicker. You can find a comparison on YouTube.

So basically:
Left: Family Friendly age-acceleration.
Right: Non-Family Friendly melting that isn’t allowed here even though the episode is already released.
The uncensored version also looks better animated but unfortunately Derpibooru does not allow people to upload an animated version of it (because of it’s leaked nature). And the censored version cuts away from the shot quicker.
It does matter. The uncensored version actually looks like she’s melting while the censored version just looks like she’s shriveling.
well, thats why MLP is not only for kids.
