Description

Hey guys! Yes, I’m back. I might not upload very much still, but I wanted to upload this. I am getting back into My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I have my own AU headcanon, my own characters, and lots of things. The thing I wanted to set up the most, though, was to introduce my versions of each character’s backstory. Since Twilight Sparkle is my favourite pony, she’s up first.

Before I have the story here, I wanted to explain a few thing. First, Twilight does not ascend in my headcanon. Instead, she graduates as a student of friendship and Celestia bestows her the title of “honourary Princess”. She is gifted a pretty crown to wear during her coronation and later on still gets her castle (debating on changing this) and still ends up running the school of friendship.

For Moondancer, I really liked that they made her look identical to Twilight. The only thing I didn’t like were the ugly eyebrows and sweater. Her glasses were okay I guess, but because I would go without them, she doesn’t have them in my AU either. If you’re gonna make a character look identical to Twilight, why not go all out?

Then, lastly we have Lovestruck there. I know she doesn’t appear in the show, but she does have an official show style design, which is also identical to Twilight. She appears in the comics and the Gameloft mobile game. I really like her design, so I’m using her for my AU as well.

Okay, here’s the backstory:

When Twilight Velvet and Night Light had Twilight Sparkle, she was actually one of three babies born at the same time. Twilight Velvet had triplets, these being Twilight Sparkle, Moondancer, and Lovestruck.

However, Velvet and Night Light hadn’t planned on any more than one additional child. Shining Armor was about 5 years old at that point, and even though the little family was living in Canterlot, at that time, they weren’t the most financially stable.

Unfortunately, Velvet and Night Light wouldn’t be able to keep and raise two of the three babies that Velvet gave birth to. Instead, they were given to relatives and close family friends to raise.

Moondancer went to Velvet’s sister, which worked out well due to her resemblance to the baby. That way, the filly wouldn’t be suspicious of her heritage. In addition, Velvet’s sister already had a filly of her own - around the same age as Shining Armor - who also happened to bear a great resemblance to her sister’s child.

Lovestruck was sent to live in Ponyville with a close family friend, where she was raised well and her real parents were able to visit her whenever they liked.

Shining Armor was not given news of having three baby sisters. His parents felt that the little colt would be very sad if he knew all three couldn’t be raised with him.

Twilight Sparkle later met her (unbeknownst to her) sister Moondancer when the two both happened to be enrolled in Celestia’s school for gifted Unicorns. Magic skills seemed to run in the family. Twilight became fast friends with Moondancer, and Velvet and Night Light got to spend plenty of time with their other daughter.

Twilight only met Lovestruck a few times during family trips to Ponyville. Sometimes she stayed behind in Canterlot to study or play with Shining Armor, or even Cadance. In addition, Lovestruck sometimes visited Canterlot with her adoptive family, and the little filly took a shine to Cadance, who was thrilled to meet her as well. It seemed the two dabbled in the same kind of magic. Twilight couldn’t say she WASN’T totally jealous of the special connection Lovestruck and Cadance shared, but she tried her best to hide it when she was around the two of them.

Twilight met Lovestruck again much later after she had moved to Ponyville following Celestia’s suggestion to do so, however as Twilight was often busy with her own duties, she did not have much interaction with Lovestruck.

Twilight Velvet and Night Light named all three of their daughters even before they had ponies set up for adopting them. Twilight Sparkle was named after her mother, Moondancer was named because they simply liked the name, and Lovestruck was named for her pink mane and tail.

When the news was broken to Twilight and Shining Armor later that the two, in fact, had two other siblings, Twilight was at first enraged at her parents for keeping the secret for so long. Shining Armor was dumbfounded, but kept a more level head, calming Twilight down at the news. Eventually the truth was revealed to Moondancer and Lovestruck as well, Moondancer feeling a bit of resentment for her “Aunt and Uncle”, but she eventually forgave them. Lovestruck was a little angry at first, but she was mostly thrilled to find out she had more family than she thought, and was even more excited to know that the “family friends” who had visited her often during her fillyhood were actually her parents.
