So not only was Rainbow Dash completely derailed and unlikable in every conceivable way, but the plot felt rushed like Mare Do Well and switched Rainbow Dash’s and Ponyville’s (primarily her friends) parts around in which she actually deserved a taste of her medicine unlike Mare Do Well for me clearly. Laughs in episodes are nonexistent when they have mean-spiritedness inserted into them. And this catastrophe has to be one of those cases. Alongside a failed plot and humor, it’s moral was delivered equally as awful as TMMDW’s and the pacing was arguably just bad. Because for a character like Rainbow Dash (and this goes to all of you who are reading this), if you purposefully pull pranks that are hurtful on your own friends and neighbors (unlike the Crusaders in Ponyville Confidential in which Diamond Tiara was only forcing them to slander and gossip about the whole town) just for the sake of selfishly giving yourself a so-called “good laugh”, then you’re a sick human-being and don’t deserve any friends or neighbors. Did I mention Pinkie wasn’t portrayed properly aside from RD herself?
Okay, seriously this is what happens when you reverse antics of wonderful characters in the opposite direction when you try to teach a moral that everyone already knew and learned of differently via its predecessor. Even if it should still be stated illogically, literally the writer behind it (rookie or veteran) will only try and both screw you over and play for keeps just to try and keep you within the fandom to selfishly make more money and be successful to keep going on with something that’ll lose more and more potential. If 28 Pranks Later made Rainbow Dash’s pranks as harmlessly humorous as her’s and Pinkie’s inGriffon the Brush Off, it could’ve easily been a true improvement over Mare Do Well as to learning from its mistakes. I will admit that Newbie Dash is worse for me for how unfair the Wonderbolts and especially Spitfire were on RD as much as What About Discord? was on Twilight, but I’ll tell you this; the Wonderbolts are watching this “odd-evening” scene of Rainbow Dash and laughing at it. In that sense, 28 Pranks Later would honestly be great to show newcomer episode writers to show them how not to write an episode, nor a good character. Because really, what else can you truly say?
Rainbow Dash going to far with her “pranks”? It doesn’t help.Dashie not using her head when thinking of her “pranks”? It doesn’t help.Pinkie’s portrayal? It doesn’t help.Ponyville only scaring Rainbow Dash as Zombies instead going way too far equally as much as her as to scar her with extreme pain in the REAL exact same way? It doesn’t help!28 Pranks Later?Well, what the heck do you think?!?!

Look, I don’t want to mess up my Filters here and even for the Hide button, it still DOESN’T WORKS because this will still shows up if I logged out in this site or pressing the Show Hidden button. This and those Episode Reviews/Rating and “Top 10…” pics should taken down and banned as Rule #3.
I will not gonna post too much rant here to avoid a warning from the staff, I’ll be waiting at this thread.
28 pranks later is: rainbow gets too caught up with a poor taste for jokes which is much much MUCH harder to change. Which is not as good a lesson, if one at all, but there is 1 redeeming factor: it tells that there’s a time and place for jokes and always think about how your actions(ex:jokes) will effect those around you and their reactions.
I really wish I could forget this episode exists and move on, but, no matter what I do, I just can’t escape it; either it worms its way back into my brain, or I randomly stumble across it while perusing DeviantArt or MLP related websites (as is the case here). If I didn’t know better, I’d say that this episode was made solely for the purpose of tormenting me… in fact I’m STILL not convinced that isn’t the case.
Heck, I even tried scheduling some electroconvulsive therapy, but apparently trying to inadvertantly wipe your memory to forget something you don’t like is FROWNED UPON! Thanks ECT, you’ve failed me yet again.
Yes, ’cause mindlessly liking everything is so much better.
No, just pointing out a bad episode.
Background Pony, sorry, but Animated Atrocities episode review memes are NOT allowed to be posted here, if you want to express your likes or dislikes of MLP episodes and shorts, USE the apporiate Pony Discussion forums, not posting these bait pics.
I’m reporting this to the mods, this must be taken down now.
Calling out writers by name is something Mr. Enter used to do. No doubt this guy’s a hardcore fan of his.
It’s like saying that all “alicorn transformation” errors are caused by Larson shenanigans

You can criticize these episodes all you want, but these guys are just doing their jobs.
Yup, after all… one first needs to be a jerk to be a ‘lovable jerk’.
She’s got natural ability and spunk, but those doesn’t translate to intelligence. Why do you think her first option for every plan she’s ever come up with is “Fly some more” or “Hit it until it goes away”?
Yup, even the episode title foreshadows it.
I thought Rainbow Dash deserved to be outrun by MDW. Sure, in that fan-hated episode at first Dash did heroic performances because she cared about anyone, but when the “hero” status came to her head, the next heroic moments are performed just to show how awesome she is.

I find it kinda mid-average if anything. The cookie zombies in the third act was pretty alright, even though it was super predictable.
Mare-Do-Well isn’t even that bad of an episode either.
No, I thought it was an alright episode. I kinda wish it went in a different direction. Something like focusing on Pinkie struggling with her inner prankster on whether or not to carry out a prank on the whole town with Rainbow Dash.
I like to think Pinkie might have actually pretended to be trying to stop Rainbow while secretly working with her if the prank were something better than giving everypony rainbow mouths. She only actively organized a counter-prank because of how lame that was.
I would have even accepted (and, in fact, half-expected) an “I didn’t learn anything” twist where Rainbow Dash reveals she was only pretending to be scared and had actually lured the whole town into the barn for the real prank, whatever that would have been.
Definitely room for improvement but it’s nowhere near the worst for me. Probably because of my soft spot for the pranking montage.
No, it is a really funny episode.
And IMO Dash is not derailed off her character, some of her traits are exaggerated, yes, but that’s something that happens with all the characters even at fan-favorite episodes (looking at you, Lesson Zero).
