They both get little love from the show, and while Celestia gets even less love, the difference is few people ever had hope for Celestia in the first place. She’s the ‘on high’ mentor character that works in mysterious ways. She’s lived for a thousand years among the people and too unrelatable to know how she thinks. If they actually went and made her relatable and down to earth, they wouldn’t have an excuse to make her so aloof and make so many crap decisions that don’t make any sense but still workout if you don’t think about it.

Luna, on the other hand, is a fish out of water princess from a thousand years ago who’s only exposure in the last 1000 years was moon rocks. She has an actual familial motivation to be a better person once given a second chance, but she is familiar with all sorts of negative feelings that made her go dark side, which would be way more interesting then a lot of episodes. Not to mention stories of stuff further in the past. They could of created 5x as many episodes with her long before the final season, even without involving Celestia directly.

With Celestia would of been preferable, but like I said, Celestia was an unquestionable plot device that drove bad finale plots forward. They were never going to give her much love. Even Luna wasn’t on board with Celestia in S3, but nothing ever came of it.

You just won’t admit that the comics and show are separate from eacother, they are there own universes.

Too dark for a kids show, but I’d be ecstatic if they did it. It’d be a nice change of pace for a kids show to call out the misrepresentation of infatuation as true love.

Tell that to Babs. Her in-show character arc was exclusive to her comic with Rarity. You can’t have an episode continue from a character development comic left off and say the comic is 0% canon. That makes no sense.
