I was talking about in-universe. Obviously for the plot’s sake Celestia couldn’t beat Chrysalis, but I usually try to find some non-meta explanation for such things.
That’s an old and often repeated theory. The truth is that Celestia had to lose. However, she didn’t have to let Chrysalis monologue that long, then step up to fight just to get smacked down.
World of Cardboard, maybe? She might have been able to overpower Chrysalis, for example, but the collateral damage and loss of life might not be worth it.

I get the feeling that we’ll be seeing Eris and/or this version of Daybreaker in the main comic at some point.
To be fair, there was a ludicrous amount of firepower in that room. I mean Daybreaker, Luna, and Tempest?
Daybreaker is the best. No question.
Daybreaker is now canon pony Vegeta and no one can convince me otherwise.
