I wonder if they suddenly added to the character roster at the twilight of the series because Hasbro wants to keep G5 more focused on the mane ponies and not have so many memorable side characters, so the writers threw in all their ideas so they could get some screen time instead of being consigned to the idea notepad.
This doesn’t make sense because more species of characters mean more toy models for Hasbro to sell. Maybe they find that they added too many SKUs without enough per-unit sales volume and they want a limited G5 roster so they can less diluted sales and lower R&D costs.
It’s been obvious that the writers had no endgame plan since Magical Mystery Cure. The S4 finale even has an entire song dedicated to the fact that Twilight is just as confused about her new princess duties as the writers were.
I completely agree with everything you just said. I get the feeling the creators of the show didn’t have an endgame plan. They just went about freely creating (and that was great),but they never planned to make an ending to the show.
I vote that the writers and artists get more time to properly end the show, by making more episodes, or maybe something as big and epic as another MLP movie (ok, that last idea was a far flung notion).
MLP FIM deserves to go out in style after all these years. There is no way they can cram so many years of story into so few episodes.
The episodes should either be made longer or there should be more episodes to properly end the shows various story arcs.
Which ponies, if any, know the world is going to end?
Pinkie Pie and Discord are the only two characters that I suspect have knowledge that their world will end. Pinkie has her antics because she knows it will all end no matter what so she may as well get in her kicks before the whole shithouse goes down in flames. Discord doesn’t mind if his antics accidentally destroy Equestria (even though he prefers they didn’t) because he knows the world will reset when you go back to disc 1 in your comprehensive box set—and the writers wouldn’t let him permantly destroy the world in the first place.
Maybe nopony knows Equestria will end because the only thing that is closing is our viewport into Equestria and life for them will continue as usual without us watching.
Or wrap up G4 in a sensible manner instead of throwing every single half-baked idea they can at the show in the final 2 seasons. If they really loved the new species so much, why didn’t they instead hold them off and properly integrate them into the Equestria of G5 from the very beginning?
My hopes are not high for it either. Why can’t they just continue the show and create a parallel G5 new show at the same time!?

This, imo, doesn’t exclude need for regulate this by magic. I always belivied that Discord in his earlier days did something to their Solar System and now it’s need to be controller by magic… ergo, no Royal Sisters = no Equis…

As the world ending Hasbro Cancellation event goes on in Equestria, Celestia and Luna “retires” to EQG universe, leaving Twilight behind to face the apocalypse.
