Yeah and we’ve seen Twilight flatten her tail alot to basically make a straight slide for Spike so I wouldn’t day a small tail can do that and fluttershy’s has extensions on her tail

Also they grab things with their tails (like Applejack and the lasso) and I think sometimes when we see a skeleton (like they get electrocuted) we see bones in the tail.
