Situations like the Christmas episode and the restoration of the tree of harmony come to mind. Also them convincing their respective races to help Equestria counts as well.

I think you have some rewatching to do because overcoming differences had absolutely nothing to do with the Mane 6 earning the Elements. That came latter. Also, what “overcoming differences” are you even talking about? The six them became friends with no issues in a day. They were basically like, “The adults are being dumb, want to be friends?”. It seems more like they had to make up a reason later on the spot to justify them using the rainbow laser since them actually becoming friends was conflict free. So yes, them being able to use the power of Harmony is still lazy writing.
In their defense, stygian did steal all their stuff without asking. I’m not saying they should have judged him so quickly, but he didn’t Make things easy.
It was because despite their various differences they still managed to come together. Even more so since they were of completely different species. It’s not really lazy writing when similar circumstances resulted in the Mane 6 coming together.

Pretty sure people who don’t care when you suddenly aren’t around and are quick to assume the worst of you are not your friends.
Yeah, and the reason was because they were the main characters of that season. Even though the premiere is far from perfect, we at least got a real reason why the Mane 6 specifically were worthy by them being the six who examplify the six virtues that fuel the power of Harmony. However, there was no reason why the Tree chose the Student 6 over literally anyone else. And no, being better at friendship isn’t a real reason. It’s arbitrary and lazy writing.

Not really, it was established that the tree of harmony choose the the student six for a reason, it wasn’t just random
Yeah, I don’t call a guy who didn’t know friendship even if it bit him the ass and a group of shitty friends being the source of the Elements of Harmony and the Tree of Harmony as pretty well done.
Nor was it when the very concept of the Elements was completely abandoned in Season 8, where literally just being friends is now enough to shoot rainbow lasers. Really makes the series premiere rather insignificant when we now know that Celestia could have grabbed literally any random group of friends to use the power of Harmony.

Nah, nothing was ever able to top Season 4’s finale for me. Plus, didn’t like how what little lore this show had was handled in the last few seasons.

Yeah but then I would have asked for going a bit longer after Season 10. But for now the comics are taking that task.
I personally think they should have had it season 10. At the very least have them explore the world after the epilogue.

It’s not lying. The final episodes of series often let them get away with things they couldn’t before.
That’s an excellent example of why, probably around 2013 to 2014, I stopped looking at what the show runners were saying on Twitter and Facebook.
But there was no explicit shipping.
Imo it did but the biggest con I have with the episode is the fact that Jim had just lied to us about no mane 6 ships and (if this still counts) Meghan had once stated on Twitter that Twilight wouldn’t outlive her friends. I guess the latter has changed overtime but I’m glad that they’ve stucked with Faust’s vision on Twi and it ends as the book is closing.
