“It’s my opinion that the final friendship lesson should be the hardest one of all: Saying Goodbye The Ponies should go their own separate ways, some staying in Ponyville, others leaving to pursue careers, but all having to come to terms with what it is all means to them and to the others. David G.W “
So there is no magic after all? :-/
literally coming back here to say
I fucking called it.
Well then I guess it’s something beyond my comprehension, and since my ability (or lack thereof) to understand social concepts has been static since the day I was born it will probably remain that way
Uh…no? It’s not anything like that at all.

the way you act
wondering when
they are coming back
they could do about anything
they could even…
learn… how to love… like you.
So its kinda like when you get a new toy, you have fun with it for a while and it’s more or less amusing but eventually you either throw it away or forget about it
It’s a lot to explain that one can’t really put into words but I’ll do my best by giving an example from my own life. When I was in my 20’s I met a guy in college who would quickly become my best friend. We enjoyed all the same books, films and TV shows and had a similar sense of humor. There were a lot of things we ‘got’ and we both loved playing D&D. It’s how we met and for the better part of a decade we hung out every weekend and played it. He was DM, I was the groups bard and we had a small group of regular friends who would hang with us and play as well as basically pal around.
Then we both started to change. I began wondering what I was going to do with my life-at the time I thought I wanted to write and illustrate my own children’s books. He wanted to become a teacher. It got harder for our groups to get together until one day we realized it had been about six months since we hung out. It wasn’t like we hated each other or didn’t want to. We just had other things we were doing. We wished each other the best it’s just…people change. Situations change. Life changes. The fact is human beings weren’t meant to form long-term relationships. We’re an opportunistic species. Yes we evolved to form societies and ties based around survival but the whole ‘life-long friendship thing is a HOllywood myth.
You’re only going to grow close to so many people in your life. There’s even a number for it-the Dunbar number and it has to do with our brains only being advanced enough to handle so many interpersonal connections at once (around 150). As time passes and the tenuous connections that hold us together grow longer there are going to be things that cause those connections to weaken. Some people manage to hold them together and sometimes…friendships grow distant and at times end. If you’re lucky they end on a bittersweet note with you and they appreciating the good your friendship brought you and how it helped you both grow.
Anyways hope that helps you understand why people going separate ways is a bit more complicated than how you put it. Keep in mind though that just because people move on it doesn’t mean they stop caring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LatorN4P9aA
Me too. If they really have that book closing thing though, it will make me weep like an infant.
Eh, actually any ending will have that effect, because it’s the end.
It certainly is. But… What if ponies from Equestria felt the same way about us in their fandom? “My Little Human: Teamwork is Awesome” Season 9? The point here I’m trying to say is that even when we say goodbyes to our best pony, they will be reborn for the next Generation in due time. I do wish Princess Twilight make a portal for us to live in Equestria if we don’t want to see her go. I’m ready for G5. Are you?
I hate change and I hate goodbye. This combines the worst of both worlds :(

Thank you! This is nice indeed with the new context of everything ending.
It’s also here on Derpibooru.

I see, thanks!
@ThePonyTheorist
The link was deleted, what did that show there?
Those are the lyrics to the song at the end of Bear and the Big Blue House.
That’s beautiful, did you just write that yourself? Or is that a quote?
Seems like we just began, when suddenly we’re through.
Goobye, goobye good friends goodbye, for now its time to go.
But hey I say well thats ok, cuz we’ll see you very soon I know, (very soon I know).
Yeah. I agree.
If more generations come out, I’m not saying goodbye to this generation. Even if… nevermind.
