I got into Breaking Bad after the show ended.

As one who has been around since the 80s, fans don’t disappear. I remember people drawing fan art of previous gens up to and right through G4, and I don’t expect the fan art to disappear; it probably will slow down, though. Lots of folks who did previous gen fan art had other interests, so pony art will absolutely still happen occasionally.

Anyone remember how much of a crap show Fimfic used to be? 3/5 times trying to get on only resulted in 502 and 504?
 
You would never have thought it with how stable and awesome it is today! I wonder if the Konami Code still works on the pc version…

So does every fandom.
 
They could be fan of fandom (art or artist) if the show finally dies or G5 isn’t on its best. Though don’t expect as many new fandom stuff as the “glory days” couple years back, and having the show ending won’t help matters.
 
It’ll be overtaken by the “new hip thing” as the old goes into depth further of obscurity. Mind you it’s not an exclusively MLP:FIM thing.
 
P.S. If G5 surprises us all then it’ll be an interesting ride forward.

Maybe they weren’t interested in the show or were put off by some of the extreme people in the fanbase that they joined later on? It’s no contest really. Anyone can join a fandom “late” or anytime they want.

9 years is literally way enough.

It is. It really is. A lot of shows end prematurely so it’s nice to see a show like this make it this far.

If I can be honest, it’s one of those things that shouldn’t have to be said. Like I thought at this point, we should have known that fandoms live on long after the source material dies. People need to grasp this concept.

Basically this. And even series that get reboots or new Generations, like Transformers and Pokemon, still have fans that like the older ones too so even if people in this fandom don’t like G5, we can still make fan content for G4. It’ll be fine.

It seems that people keep forgetting that franchises that have been ended/been dead for years still have fans :/

I’d probably still use Google Docs. I don’t have a FiM account but if I did I’d probably post fanfiction in both sites (and maybe Fanfiction and other websites for good measure too).

If you go to Fimfiction and look at any of the mane six tag pages, they all have a neat graph that shows the decline in… well, Fimfiction’s use. 2011, people were still largely using GDocs with links on EQD and other places. 2012-13 were good and stable, and then someone must’ve found the exit door.

I got into Gravity Falls and a lot of other shows after the show finished. So I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal if new people get into the show after it’s over.

That’s true, I’ve been here since the start of the second season and I must say this fandom reached its peak in 2012 but then it began to feel emptier than before to this days imo.

Reality can punch you right in the face

There’s people in the pony fandom that focus on the fanfic side, like Fallout Equestria, and The Toll of Clockwork Tower, and there’s so many OC ponies, gryphons, kirin, dragons and otherwise, that I don’t see the Fandom or its own universe dying out any time soon.
