Now that you bring up the idea of dreaming in a coma, I just realized how different comas would be in Equestria. Luna can visit ponies in comas and even bring others to visit as well.
She did, but it didn’t kill her, it only put her into a coma. Her adventures as “Princess” Twilight Sparkle were all just a dream she was having while she was on life support.
But they’ve finally given up hope of her waking up and pulled the plug.
