I know this show is good to you all. But it’s time for me to say goodbye to mlp right now. Thank you twilight. You taught me MAGIC. Thank you pinkie pie. You taught me to bring LAUGHTER to my friends. Thank you rainbow dash. You taught me to be LOYAl to others. Thank you apple jack. You taught me that no matter what happens (bad or good) to tell the HONEST truth. Thank you fluttershy. You taught me to be KIND to animals and people. Thank you rarity. You taught me to be GENEROUS to gifts and family,friends etc. Most importantly thank you hasbro! I couldn’t have done it without you!

I experienced that firsthand in the Ace Attorney fandom. The two most popular ships for Phoenix Wright were him with Maya or Edgeworth. My favorite was Phoenix/ Iris Hawthorne, which was despised by fans of the first two. I caught a lot of flak for it. I think one of the reasons was the Maya and Edgey pairings were never canon, while the Iris one actually was to an extent. And the lengths these fan-brats-girls would go to try and prove those two were canon were absolutely staggering.
@northern haste
Good point, it’s kinda a double-standard. Sometimes fans forget when a character’s personality is fanmade or fanon.
Yeah, I think Button gets too much hate lately.
Frankly, while not a big ‘shipper, I don’t get why SweetieMash-haters love/prefer “Rumbelle,” and have been trying to enforce, and/or popularize that, considering Rumble’s actual canon personality isn’t very likeable, (as seen in “Marks & Recreation”) and he was actually rather rude/nasty to the CMC. I’m not a huge “SweetieMash fanboy,” but frankly, I’ll take Button over Rumble any day.
It just kinda annoys me people complain about how “annoying” Button is, (a character who hasn’t really done anything in canon) yet love obnoxious characters like Rumble.
Not hating on Rumble, but I just don’t think he deserves a free pass, when he legitimately in canon acted like a jerk, while characters like Button get hate for no reason.
@Beau Skunky
It’s actually kind of funny how popular the ship it was when I remember seeing people complain about sweetiemash because his personality was fanmade.of course most of the background pony ships were based on fanmade personalities
@northern haste
Yeah, they’re popular both romantic, or platonic. (I kinda prefer platonic personally.)
But it’s funny how people paired them up (both ways) simply, because they’re both “music ponies,” and fans love that “Odd Couple” or opposites aspect.
@northern haste
And some of their personality was based on fanon oddly. In fact, before the ep’, DJ PON3 & Octavia Melody never interacted, or appeared in the same episode.
@Beau Skunky
another piece of irony I’ve noticed on the internet is that people are always complaining about unoriginal ideas but yet in this fandom characters people don’t like are often called ocs when that word means original character

I don’t recall McCarthy “effing” Lauren Faust over, Faust left the show by her own choice, and she even requested for fans to respect MCarthy and her successors actually.
Also, while Lauren is good, and did a good job developing the series, and modernizing it, you still have to face the fact, she didn’t create the MLP franchise itself, and right now she’s working on a new series featuring DC comic characters she didn’t create. So it’s a bit ironic to demonize McCarthy for “using characters that aren’t her’s.” (For that matter some of the character names, and designs aren’t entirely her’s, and she had help with them, or took inspiration from previous MLP generations. Like Rainbow Dash is basically a G3 pony, but with G1 Fire Fly’s personality.)
From what I hear McCarthy wasn’t even the creator of EqGirls, it was Hasbro’s idea. You’re acting like the ignorant fans that accused M.A. Larson for “Twilicorn.” (Which became a joke/meme after awhile.)
So can we ease up on the whole “McCarthy is the boogeyman, she ruinedz MLP!” 2013 bull-honkey?

McCarthy should really just her trap and remember that Lauren chewed her out for the EQG crap,the leaked email said so.Ugh,this shit make my blood boil even without clicking the link,fucking Meghan spewing marketing buzzword about fucking EQG garbage.No,Meghan EQG is not “taking advantage of FIM lore”,it’s just grotesquely twisting it to sold ersatz of Monster High using character you didnt even created.You oughta show some restraint and decorum after fucking Lauren over,provided you had any to begin with
If it’s not going to be a sequel (which appears to be the case), I’d much rather it have new characters, either in a completely new or at least similar world. TBH I’d rather not see the mane six as the main characters of the new generation. Guest appearances, maybe, but making them the stars again would only lead to people endlessly comparing it to G4.
known.

There’s a good reason it’s called fan dumb.
Personally, I enjoy supporting unpopular ships simply because it upsets others that someone likes a ship they despise.

Oh well, that’s just how it goes.

Also until episode 100 slice of life their personalities were fanmade
Name 5 besides Derpy.
The irony I find is that ocs are criticized for being recolors but some of the most popular ponies in canon are recolors of other ponies…
Good point.

My same reaction
Nope. The leaked documents went into detail about it. Nothing about the world is the same, everything’s been flushed.

I highly doubt that.
