Fun fact: Germanic languages aren’t actually Indo-European. They’re just a hybrid group of languages who’s grammar and vocabulary got heavily influenced by Proto-Indo-European over millenia. Check out the Germanic substrate hypothesis and also check how the big amount of Germanic words have non-Indo-European roots.

If anybody’s confused: remember that Poland had exceptionally strong equestrian culture since the Commonwealth period, which was famous for winged hussars and characterized by rivalry with the Ottoman Empire. No wonder the word “kucyk” is borrowed from the Turkish language.
