And I have to say, I love it. It changed things up but kept the spirit of the original design. Grogar is so far everything I’ve wanted and I’m so happy they made it canon that he is indeed a necromancer.
Pretty sure the design in the picture was based on the 2017 design leak. We’ve known what he was going to look like since then.
Flim and Flam would look better on this chessboard as knights
Ponies are already horses, it is pretty obvious, but alternatively, a dragon as a knight will be cool as well. (See Sir Spike, the silly manly Spike there)

When this leak occurred, Cozy Glow had not appeared yet, let alone appeared with Tirek in the finale of that season.
Actually, I can see Tierk being the one to be reformed, but not by the Mane 6….by his brother Scorpan, if he does arrive in the final season, it would be nice to see him trying one final time to reconcile with his brother.

I hope so, but the writers seem dead set against it, they want her to be the Team Rocket. Whatever happens with any of the others, you can bet she’ll just fly away again and remain on the loose, obsessing over a revenge she’ll never get. If they were going to destroy her they’d have done it when her throne exploded, since all her Season 8 return episode was good for was a surprisingly gruesome death scene for six villains who were worse than her.

Source? Or are you guessing? That would be a very unwise move at this point in the show, ESPECIALLY with her considering redemption will transform her into her ascended form, and doing that at a point where we would not get to see her after her redemption episode would just annoy the fans who would like to see more stories told with her character (like Luna, Sunset, and Discord). This is why the redemptions in the Equestria Girls movies (besides Sunset of course) and G1 feel so cheap compared to even Starlight. Plus, there have been so many redemptions already fans are tired of it. If there’s any main villains they SHOULD reform this season, alone of the five, it’s Cozy Glow, if she has it in her.

He’s there because, they need a pawn. He was easy to recruit once Cozy revealed(lied) that Twilight, Spike and their “puppet” Ember were plotting to make Dragons more and more like Ponies. And proves it by showing a picture of his sister in a dress with Ocellus and Gallus(theres a comic on this)
Basically he’s there to stop Pony culture from taking over dragons and to save his sister from their brainwashing school.
… And Garble is there too, for some reason.
Well Queen Chrysalis is getting reformed and Lord Tirek is fake. Those two are a big no no. Cozy Glow, King Sombra and Grable on the other hand, they will be great enough. The only question is, what species is Cozy Glow?
According to the leaked Hasbro material, yes, in the Season 9 premier, or “S901” as his reference sheet says. Grogar will be appearing in episode 1 in some way as well going by the S901 on his reference sheets.
There was also a slide of Tirek with Cozy Glow on his head. They are possibly travelling, with her being carried by him.
The best I can see her is, as a commander for Grogar(hence Rook) She’s a chess piece in a much bigger game. I do think she is responsible for Grogar’s comeback to Equestria.(May have been her plan she was so happy about)
That would be even more ridiculous, and sounds less dramatic and more comical. She might have tried to drain all the magic in Equestria, but she still looks like she’s supposed to be a comedy villain! So there.
