misterque asked:
Since Queen Moon appears to be far more militaristic and well equipped for conflict then Celestia- how have the borders expanded? and through which wars? Just a General war question, love to know how brutal Moon is, I imagine she is the “Do what is necessary” sort. Also imagine her in full armour *Wolf Whistle*
The militaristic side will be discussed later on in the story so I won’t go into it now.
But I can say that she does sometime like to join the fray herself to inspire fear and loyalty.
And you of course mentioned armor. Why must you exploit this weakness?!
This is probably not a final design, but it was fun to doodle

Not really. It reminds me of the surcoat knights wore over their armor, emblazoned with her cutie mark as a kind of coat of arms (convenient for ponies that they come with a coat of arms built in, I guess). The point would be to help her soldiers identify her in combat. Nightmare Moon herself would probably not really need that (how many black alicorns are there?), but I would suppose that it’s common for other high-ranking soldiers and she follows suit.

You know, I always considered NMM to use a war scythe in battle for some reason; it fit her sinister and brutal yet refined and elegant nature. What do you think would best suit the Mare in the Moon, Silfoe? Oh, and for those of who who don’t know what a war scythe is, here is a picture below:
