Well, somepony had to point it out. Seriously, can we have one more try with this idiot? I know we all despise him… especially me, but even he needs better treatment than that. I mean come on, Flurry Heart has better characterization then him and saying a lot. Heck, Noteworthy and Comet Tail who were actually introduced in his episode, by the way, have way less screen time than him are still far better characters than him by the end of the episode.
Seriously DHX gives us something. Maybe have him in another episode with Rarity where he attempts to fix things. Or maybe an episode where he is forced to work with a polar opposite characters like Twilight or Sunburst. Or how about a meta episode where he meets Flash Sentry, they do have the same voice actor after all…
Or maybe an episode where he gets flat out murder by King Sombra. I mean King Sombra is supposedly returning in this final season so why not.

Again I could less for this dumb character, I just find it sad that this has happened to even the worst of characters. Really they could so much more. Heck, I state that they could kill him off and that would be perfectly fine, at least that doing something with him.

Well according to Lauren Faust he is related to Celestia on her mother’s side fifty-two times removed, which would actually make him more of a distant cousin than a nephew. Though I’m not sure how relevant it is now, due to never being stated on the show and the current writers making backstory that contradicts hers (honestly, I gave up on a continuity long ago).
A background cameo is the most he can hope for
He has potential for a bigger role as seen in the comics and him being one of the most used minor characters on Fimfictions
But the writers don’t see him that way so its not gonna happen
Hey, I can’t stand Blueblood either, but really just because he served his purpose doesn’t make him a well-made character. Heck, Princess Amore from comics only purpose was to be killed by King Sombra yet the reason she is the worst princess of all time is because she didn’t at least try to stop it.
Really saying Blueblood served his purpose and should be forgotten now is just plain blind. Any writer knows that the best character go beyond their purpose.
If a character’s only reason to exist was to serve a purpose that would mean all the main six except for Twilight would have left the show after the pilot episodes or at least after season 3 since each one has already served their purpose long ago. Heck one could argue that Twilight herself had served purpose after Starlight joined. But that not the reason these characters are still here. It not the reason why these characters are still so great.
Blueblood could easily make a return and be used for the many ideas explained in my description. Yes, I don’t like the character at all, but I’m still willing to give the character another try especially since the series is nearly over.

That was my theory too, and I think Rarity thinking he was related to Celestia is just a common mistake.
We need one that explains how he is a prince, if the comics don’t already; I always figured he was descended from Princess Platinum.
He has gotten comic books dedicated to him. So there’s that at least.

Yeah, that would be cool too. But she already has a better characterization then him. There are plenty of one time characters who have been missing for years. The difference, Blueblood has had more appearance… but he still hasn’t had a single line since season one either.
