There is also the “NOU” card, ie when Hasbro struck Fighting is Magic it got even more powerful then before, that guy that got C&D because of button smash also got a lot more traction right after the strick.

fan fiction is also a copyright gray area
 
while it is technically copyright infringement and they can sue you for it, they tend not to bother because the amount of money they will get from it is nothing as they have lost no money from it existing.
 
they might get some money from a lawsuit if you try to sell your fanfiction (or make any sort of money from it like patron) but the bad press from a lawsuit (and the little money they get from it) would probably make them reconsider
 
not to mention that fighting fan content is like battling the imperial guard “for every one of us who falls, ten more will take his place”

Intellectual property is a pretty difficult subject. There’s limits to how far you can stretch your authority over what you own, that’s why we have fair use.

I’m Canadian. When I first started watching MLP, the only way I could see episodes the same day as they aired in the U.S. was by pirating, because they aired here weeks later. And I live in the city the show is made in. If it weren’t for piracy, I wouldn’t be a fan. And if I weren’t a fan, I and my daughter would not have spent money on the toys.  
(I buy the season on DVD every year, too, so it’s not like they don’t get my money, it’s just delayed.)

Probably won’t need to if they made them easier to watch legally.  
No blu-rays,DVDs and Netflix are behind, Amazon prime doesn’t let you buy season 1 2 3 and is also one season behind

If iTunes sold MLP episodes with English audio in my region, I would’ve bought them in a heartbeat.
