Night “Val” Valley is a free and resilient spirit who is absolutely not interested in her parents’ royalty BS. She wants to be free to socialize with the common folk and often runs away to do so, at the immense worry of her parents. She’s often at odds with Moonstone in particular, who has come to take her and her family’s royal status and responsibilities very seriously, but doesn’t realize that she herself is a “commoner” at heart and knows how it feels to not fit in. But as far as Val knows, her mom’s just as stuck-up as the rest of them.
Fading Dawn is the earth pony spawn of powerful unicorns and is not happy about it. He wants desperately to be an alicorn, but doesn’t actually do anything about it beyond acting all high-and-mighty and better than everyone else. He especially looks up to his father and Grandmother Celestia, and strives to be just like them. And while he comes across as a snob to most, Fading Dawn is besties with his cousin Lunar Gauntlet, who does his makeup and helps him practice better etiquette and presentation. That, and they confide in each other more than anypony else. He’s not so unapproachable if you really know him!
Starstruck is a momma’s boy and the baby of the family, and thus isn’t held to as high expectations as his siblings. He has a big imagination and likes reading and writing fiction. Of course, he’s in no way detached from reality and knows what the world is really like, but he just wants to enjoy his own stories and pursue his hobbies in peace.
