Description
I pyrographed a wooden chest to the honor of the royal sisters.
I burned the stylyzed version of Celestia and Luna from the first episode on the lid, regular versions of them on the front, large images of their cutie marks and their crowns on the left and right side of the chest and their evil sides Nightmare Moon respectively Daybreaker on the rear side of the chest in addition to some “ornaments”. The chest is larger than the last two I made and I think it may well have been the most time consuming pyrographie I have made so far (took more than 12 hours), but I am quite happy with how it turned out Here is a little animation, showing all sides of the chest.

I started doing pyrographies only in late 2017 but it really was (and remains to this day) a lot of fun. One can apply orientation lines on the wood with pencil which can be erazed without leaving any spots (at least on any type of wood I have used so far). One important thing to practice is to keep the soldering tool in motion from the moment its tip touches the wood (my first works showed the beginner mistake of dark spots at the beginnings and ends of the lines I burned into the wood). One thing that is not a must but makes the work easier is to smoothen the wood with extremely fine sand paper before you start working on it.
You’re welcome. I never got the chance to do woodwork but I would love to do that. My father’s pretty good at it. I might ask him to give me a few pointers.

In case of this particular box, I already got and accepted buying offer, but I put up other pyrographies I may offer up for sale. Also if you ever get a chance to try out pyrography / woodburning, I can only encourage you to do so. It is a lot of fun.

I actually also got the dark blue respectively yellow scarfs which are the background in this shot just to create this light and dark image in the background too (though those scarfs might also be used as a background in future projects if it fits).
