The Element of Magic doesn’t represent magical knowledge or the ability to use it, the show’s tagline is “Friednship is Magic” after all. With both Friendship and Magic, new things are always being learned. The Element of Magic represents Friendship, and you can also interpred it as representing a willingness to learn.

Chances are that the Elements would become, or more likely evolve, into more representative forms of the elements, rather than the current ones, to better fit the next generation, like how Beauty became Generosity, Healing became Kindness, Strength into Honesty, and so on.
 
Heck, the Tree itself said that like all living things, it too grew and evolved, perhaps to the point that it was capable of refining and upgrading the Elements into newer, more powerful ones.
 
That’s the best theory: when new bearers prove themselves to the Tree, it will evolve the Elements further and further to better fit their wielders.

Makes a lot of sense. Then again, now that we know who’s getting what, we still need to find out what the elements are going to become… I doubt Gallus knows Magic, but they could change into something else like they did regarding the Pillars.

Nope. Looks closer at the auras. They’re colored like the fur coats of the Mane Six~

Smolder - Blue (Rainbow Dash) - Loyalty  
Silverstream - Pink (Pinkie Pie) - Laughter  
Yona - Orange (Applejack) - Honesty  
Ocellus - White (Rarity) - Generosity  
Sandbar - Yellow (Fluttershy) - Kindness

When the Tree of Harmony gave them the test, the results (as far as I could tell) were:
 
Gallus: Magic  
Smolder: Honesty  
Silverstream: Laughter  
Ocellus: Generosity  
Yona: Kindness  
Sandbar: Loyalty
 
So while the colors may not match exactly, most are pretty close. Perhaps the color of the glow reflects the coloring of the character?

When Grogar comes 6 elements wont be enough, 12 will do just barely, but 18 will do the job right.

Bravery = Loyalty = ???  
Beauty = Generosity = ???  
Strength = Honesty = ???  
Hope = Laughter = ???  
Sorcery = Magic = ???
 
Now we just need to figure out what the elements will turn into with new owners.

Cool idea but it’s more they glow the main six colours not the colours of the elements themselves
