Yeah, they just met after all. And let’s not forget that her first impression of Adagio is that of a rage monster who came to kill her mom. A mom she doesn’t much like, to be fair, but it’s the principle of the thing!

I Feel more like she chose it cause it was the biggest and she was acting without thinking, as she wanted to just make an instead impression for the reaction.

Well to be fair she wanted Sonata to take responsibility for her own kids and not have to helicopter her. Cause it seems to me that Adagio even when she was ‘evil’ still loved her children and grandchildren. Sonata straight up said and I quote ‘I hate kids’ and so how else are we and by extension Adagio is supposed to react? I know it’s more complicated than that but at least Adagio has been a good mother regardless of her actions not regarding her kids. Plus now? She is mortal. Human. She can’t have kids anymore and it is clearly hurtful to her moreso than it is to Aria or Sonata. She’s a mother figure more than just to her kids but to the others as well. Now should she have done more to reign sonata in? Hell yes. However it isn’t entirely her responsibility to make her sister be a good mother and at least it shows character that she got angry at sonata for having a kid behind her back cause she was worried for the kids well being given the last kid Sonata had? Turned into the most notorious killed in human history who was never caught.

Adagio’s rage upon learning that Sonata had another kid and emphasis on Sonata not messing her up don’t really show us that.
 
Again, you tell us these things, but the narrative doesn’t show it, so we can only react to what we’ve witnessed. So far, that’s Adagio being surprisingly sympathetic pretty much from the start of this comic (and getting almost nothing but grief for it, it seems like), Sonata being a soulless monster completely beyond redemption or anything resembling a conscience, and Dolly taking after Sonata with her total lack of empathy and evidently already being spoiled rotten by Neighsay.

It was more complicated than Adagio and Aria not tolerating the abuse. They weren’t happy about it but they didn’t stop it either. What pushed them to enforce a ban was more about the trouble she caused them as a result of Jack’s actions.

Given that Sonata was forbidden to have more children centuries ago, well before they lost the ability to procreate, I’m not sure I buy that.

Remember, Sonata abused her kids but Adagio and Aria let it happen. Three times. Didn’t really raise a finger until it was too late. Adagio cared about HER OWN kids - she didn’t actively care about her sisters kids until she couldn’t have her own any more.

Right now all we see is her making Dagi sad and Sonata smile, when Dagi was worried about another innocent soul being destroyed by Sonata.
