Correct, this is a d4. I assume he means he thinks the angles look like the die has a square base, giving it an extra side. I examined it and decided it doesn’t, and even if it did I definitely consider this shape finalized and I’m not going to alter it now.

d4s are nicknamed “caltrops” for two reasons. The damage dealt by stepping on a caltrop in D&D is 1d4, and stepping on a d4 in real life can be worse than stepping on a lego.
