“It’s Alway Sunny In Philadelphia” theme playing
The Gang Get Radicalized by Memes, Livestream the Experience
I was going to say yeah. The same people who are claiming that this targets them are the ones who were first to dehumanize others.
@Burger King Leonidas
@spikls
In the fifties they were called “Squares,” in the seventies through nineties they were called “Sheeple” or “Conformists,” in the early aughts they were called “Normies.” All were used to describe people who had mainstream interests or tastes and showed no interest in anything else. So to me, any claim that this NPC meme is some kind of new or dangerous and nefarious thing is ridiculous. Do some funny and insightful people use it? Yes. Do some really stupid and obnoxious people also use it? Also yes. That’s just the internet for you.
Edited
It’s a nice meme, flexible, there’s some thought put into some of them though it wouldn’t be where it is today without the backlash.
Reminds me of a certain cartoon.
That’s because sadly, the left has become so evangelized with right think that they feel like they don’t have to debate their views with anyone and can instead, treat them in any manner they see fit because they have the right politics and their adversaries don’t. Look at Maxine “We need to get together and harass people no matter where they go” Waters, Dianne “If Kavanaugh is confirmed in the supreme court, there will be more mass shootings.” Fienstien, and Hillary “When the Democrats take back control, that’s when civility can start again” Clinton.
They’re prime examples of the left feeling so righteous in their cause that they will advocate for angry mobs against their opponents, threaten mass violence if they don’t get their way, and then blame everyone else for the mass divide.
On a side note, IMO it’s disconcerting to hear about this antagonistic meme when the same group that espoused this quackery on political homogeneity accuses their left-wing of also sewing divisiveness and destructive chaos!
That is to say, it seems the ultimate conclusion for political debating in the 21st century is whoever has the wittier insult ad hominem…
Oh
You’re mocking people who think rigidly and act in predictable manners. Just like a video game NPC. Though like @Background Pony #3E9E said it’s become pretty apt and synonymous with the thoughts and actions of the political left.
I dont see the humour value
Started as another variation of the “stop liking what I don’t like” meme now it’s kind of a satire on people who hold specific political beliefs or react in predictable and often aggressive ways etc. It’s pretty universal now and everybody knows people like that especially on websites that by design discourage from using well-structured arguments or insight.
Something something vidyagames r just like real life or something
