I would do it if it’s possible to change the human to female, and have it completely lesbian and I’d make it one of my FoE ocs and my Main human oc (Fallout) Scarlet Arren
@Stitch
Or maybe they don’t care about learning how to draw and would instead want an artist they really like draw something they want to see.
I mean if they have the money to have their oc drawn and get their rocks off, why not?
@humnumb
Again, there is no convenient way to set up the thing you talk about. Also, note that doing everything needed to ‘insert’ each character into a sketch like that - so drawing unique hair, details, colors, and shading, ideally facial expressions - would still make up for the most of work. Basically, doing two, maybe three different characters for the same YCH would be about the same amount of work as doing two completely different YCHs.
@humnumb
But yeah, you can’t do both. Can’t have auction and a set rate to do multiples. Have to pick one or the other. I’d be interested in seeing someone try both with two different but similar style drawings and see which yields higher earnings :/
@Alcor
Ah, yeah. I mean, they could still have a set price and let people pay for their oc’s in it, but it would definitely lose it’s “exclusive” feel. Also, I’m not trying to say the artists should be cheap though. Good art is vastly undervalued regularly, you see people doing custom illustrations or character drawings for $25-$40, which is super cheap. This brings down the overall value for other artists, which sucks. While I agree the individual exclusiveness is diminished by doing set rate multiple pieces, I still think they could make more. Let’s say this auction will get $800 for the one drawing and someone will insert their OC. I know, absolutely beyond a single doubt, that you could get 8-10 different people wanting this done with their oc or with canon characters for $150 a piece or something. Idk, it seems worth it, but I do see what you mean.
@humnumb
One reason would be that no one is doing that currently, so there’s no framework in place to realize it. Also, I think big part of the cost people play for those, is for the fact they get their character in an unique, one-of-a-kind artwork. I think that the appeal would be weaker if the potential buyer would know anyone else can then buy the same thing with a different character of their own.
Why don’t the artists just charge a flat rate to insert characters here? I mean I know there’s a lot of people who would pay $200 a piece for this with different characters. The artist would be guaranteed, like, $1,000 minimum. They’d just have to do the drawing with Each of the mane 6 and then sunset, Trixie, starlight, Luna, etc. I feel like there’s more money to be made that way instead of doing one-time auctions. :/
Oh look, another auction which announces to the world yet again that the 1% of the Brony fandom is getting another piece of art while everyone else’s OCs remain virgins.
Thats the best part tho
You know what if the buyer is happy and the artist is happy then why the hell do you have to complain?

I dunno, seems to me that 4 out of the 5 people who ever successfully buy these have competently designed OCs.

Peachy.
