That could be what underlies her anger and grumpy disposition. She’s the middle child of the group.
Ah yes, the cuteness factor is indeed a powerful one. Could very well be the sole reason they ask for reformation. This is next level Siren right here.
Also, if their only means of nourishment is feeding over negative emotions that they have to inflict, I’m afraid they are no better then demons. Tragic yes, but we should just get rid of them as it’s not wise to accommodate something like that.
I really don’t see any goodness within them, or remorse. Sunset had (even thou it felt very forced) repented her actions by the end of the first movie while the dazzlings just bailed, we don’t get to see how they deal with their fall from grace.
As for why we want to see them turn g00d so much is indeed a good inquiry. They are good villains, but I personalty don’t think they would make good friends without a major conversion.
I can see Cinch’s reformation…
“No, I am not evil. I just have a different opinion on how a school should be run. And no, I will not be your friend.”
“SHOOT HER WITH THE FRIENDSHIP LASER!”
“Wait, what?”
PSHOOOOOOM!
Part of it I think is a desire to see more cute characters on the side of good. Sonata in particular seems like she isn’t even that evil half the time, like when she expresses her nonmalicious delight at Taco Tuesday. There’s also the fact that, as far as we know, the Sirens are basically forced to feed off negative emotions, which makes some fans feel sorry for them and to want them to not only reform but maybe to transform into new species that don’t require negative emotions (say, cute ponies).
And the fact that Shimmer reformed created the expectation that other EQG villains can and will, too. So far the Dazzlings and Cinch are the only EQG villains not to reform by the end of their debut.
They are very human, are they not? That seems very redeemable to me. But if they are so completely without any redeeming qualities in the canon, why is there so much interest about them and desire for their return? Who after all, would want Hitler to be redeemed rather than to suffer in the pits of Hell?
Edit: I will grant that purely in retrospect, I don’t think that Sunset Shimmer had any redeeming qualities, even though now she is the very pauline paradigm of self-driven reformation. But no one asked for Sunset Shimmer’s return, and many are asking for that of the Dazzlings. Where then comes this desire if they are so without redeeming qualities?
Edited because: New thought
Well, if it gets him some lovely slaves…
It may not be sombra, there’s a good chance it might be the pony of shadows.
Not hating the idea. He is the evil crystal master, he could probably do that.
The Dazzlings are pure evil as far as they where presented in the show as they did nothing good onscreen so far, not even to one another. Anything redeemable about them would come from fan work. I think it would be nice to see them developing some kind of empathy now that they have been… humbled.
Also, I also hope Chryss don’t get the reforming end of the metaphorical stick. And seeing how we already have Torax it should be a safe bet.
That’s a silly oversimplification in itself; it is false, a cop-out, and, in any case, irrelevant.
Of course it’s oversimplified. It’s a kid’s show.
That very distinction is what I’m talking about. There is an assumption that the Dazzlings are totally evil and must be “reformed,” to be forced to see the error of their ways and to bow down before the religion of Friendship, lest they be sinners forever. I don’t think we have to see the Dazzlings in this light. Rather, I think they have a side of their own that deserves consideration.
I believe that this is very central problem of Friendship is Magic, which I think we have lost since the end of Rainbow Rocks. Before that ending, there was at least the hint of the serious inquiry into the Celestia-Luna problem: that when two friends have a disagreement over valid points, who is to blame, and how can they be reconciled? But starting with season 5, we seem to have lost that inquiry and are now focused with assimilating more and more people into the cult of Friendship, such that today we would see Luna as totally without grounds, that Celestia should feel no remorse for banishing her friend, that none of what happened was her fault. In hindsight, we impose this new philosophy back onto the events before season 5.
In summary, this simplistic perception of a duality of good and evil is anachronistic for the Dazzlings, and is baser and uncharitable in light of the older inquiry.

I know it’s tagged aquarium, however I don’t think the glass should look like that, and in a real life aquarium, the glass should not be that thin.
I’m not sure why you were expecting any answer, seeing that it’s plainly obvious it’s Aria at an aquarium.
Yeah, because being good is soooooo undignified….
Reformation does not necessarily equal losing your dignity. Also, there are three of them. Maybe one or two change sides and the rest doesn’t? Either way would be fine with me, I’m just suggesting things.
