Artist’s Description
 
The rest of the wedding reception went on uneventfully. After most of the guests left, Mako was able to give his “wedding gift” to Xhisrc: a body pillow with a photograph on Lady on it in a pink bikini. Xhisrc was… less than amused by the gift, but Lady found it quite hilarious, commending her brother on how the silly harmless prank turned out. As much as Mako wanted to spend time with his newest niece, both Bubble Lee and Mako knew that they had to return to the Reef, with promises of being back for Daniel’s graduation.
 
A month have gone by since the graduation, and while the trip to Ponyville and Canterlot used vacation time, it hardly felt like a vacation. Going back to the hustle and bustle of work was tiring and with the hospital as busy as ever, Bubble was happy to take any break she could get. With the weird happenstances occuring around the island and ponies mysteriously getting injured or found unconcious, the blue-maned nurse has been putting on a lot of extra overtime and working late.
 
But not today. Today Bubble has every intention of leaving work on time, if not a little early if she could get away with it! With bounce in her step, Bubble went through her day, checking the halls and attending to her patients with a bright smile on her face. Her fellow co-workers couldn’t help but stop and smile in response, all having a good idea of what has gotten the bouncy mare in such a good mood. A pink maned, zebra-unicorn hybrid couldn’t help but grinned as she pulled a yellow manilla envelope from her desk.
 
Nurse: hands Bubble a file Here you go, Bubble.
 
Bubble: smiles and takes it Thank you, Miss Lily.
 
Nurse: rolls her eyes You’ve been working here long enough, you can just call me Impala like everyone else. No need for such formality here, hehe~
 
Bubble: smiles wide and nod Sure thing Impala, hehehe. Oh, just so you know, once I finish with this last patient, I’ll be clocking out for the day. tail wagging
 
Impala: ears perk Oh? That’s unusual for you. What’s the special occasion? with a grin
 
Bubble: Oh it’s nothing all that special.. I just wanted get home early to prepare a nice dinner. It’s me and my coltfriend’s one year anniversary after all~
 
Impala: Wow, has it really been one year now? Congratulations! Got anything planned?
 
Bubble: Not really. I would have liked to have gotten work off but I already used too many vacation days with the wedding and my ne-.. Uh.. my coltfriend’s nephew’s graduation. Dinner, maybe a movie….
 
Impala: And other obligatory couple activities afterwards, I know the drill, hehehe~ with a wink But while all that seems fine and dandy, it seems rather… boring, don’t you think?
 
Bubble: ears perk Boring? How so?
 
Impala: It’s not everyday that you celebrate a one year anniversary! Why not surprise him by making it a little… extra~ eyebrow waggles
 
Bubble: blinks…. Before her cheeks turn pink O-oh… you mean.. That kind of “extra”… thinks about it …. I suppose I could do that, hehehe~
 
Impala: Trust me, it’s the little things that really mean the difference. Like wearing a perfume you know he likes, or wearing something that will just make his jaw drop!…. Or nothing at all!
 
Bubble: snorts Hahaha! Oh goodness, I think Mako has seen me naked plenty of times, that won’t be much of a surprise to him. waves her hand
 
Impala: blushes a little Well… the point is……… what is going on in here?
 
While talking, the two nurses were walking and ended up in the main entrance for the ER. The front sliding doors flew open as stretcher after stretcher was being wheeled in, each pony and hybrid on them with severe burns on them. The two nurse rushed to the front desk.
 
Impala: What is going on here?!
 
Receptionist: looks up We just got a call about an apartment complex on Roan Road catching on fire. There is suspicion of arson.
 
Bubble: ears fold back Oh goddesses.. And the residents?
 
Receptionist: The fire department is there on scene now. So far there are 2 casualties and at least a dozen seriously injured. watching as another stretcher gets wheeled in
 
Impala: takes a deep breath How horrible.. Hopefully we can help these poor ponies.. It’s time to get back to work… as she turns and rushes after a paramedic
 

 
Working the final touches on a special gift for their one year anniversary, Mako gave it a quick shine before putting it away for later. For a few months he had been piecing together something special for Imago. The one trouble was figuring out a good time to give it to her, and the anniversary was better than any other day. Of course, there was still much more to do before then. Rummaging through the attic and the basement, Mako searched and searched for what he needed so he could present it to her properly. All the while thinking he was a huge old fashioned cheesecake for doing this much.
 
Looking back on how they first met and the first date he had with Imago, he realized how cheesy and soft-hearted he must have looked at the time. The thought almost made him cringe, but he couldn’t help but smile and chuckle at how his first attempt to court her actually worked. Cheesy works for him!
 
The rest of his work day was more lax than usual, which he was more than grateful for. There was a slight bit of panic once he caught news of an apartment building had caught fire. While silently working on a busted heater, he hoped the ponies who lived there were alright and on their way to the hospital and get help. Knowing that Bubble had a late shift that day, he knew they’d be in safe hands and would get the best help possible. The hours passed by pretty slow with the short list of work Mako had on his plate. Looking into his crates of collected treasures, the level was lower than usual. Recently he had been staying in the shop, going out on the boat less and less after being stressed out from Streak’s tauntings, not wanting to be out in the ocean for too long. Mako gave a snort thinking about it, closing the crate and deciding to go out the next day if possible. Looking at the clock on the wall, he saw it was closing time and started cleaning up for the night. Putting his tools and cleaning supplies away in the closet, he could hear the front door of the house open and close. Bubble must be home now, it was getting close to midnight now.
 
Mako: Welcome back, hehehe! I wasn’t expecting you to be home right now. How’s everything at the hospital?
 
Bubble: sighs heavily Packed full almost from the fire..! I did what I could before almost dropping from running back and forth between rooms.
 
Mako: cringes slightly as he closes the closet It’s that bad, huh..? Did you lose anypony..?
 
Bubble: No, fortunately there weren’t any serious casualties. Mostly just burns, but they’ll be treated properly… But I don’t want to talk about work right now…
 
Mako: Heh, I can understand that. You must be exhausted, you want to get some sleep?
 
Walking into the house through the conjoining door, Mako stopped dead in the doorway and his eyes widened as he saw Bubble in the living room. Her long blue mane was let down and she was wearing a tight fitting black dress that only reached down to her thighs. She wasn’t wearing that under her uniform, was she? Mako gave his head a quick shake as he closed the door behind him, his face turning red from being caught by surprise.
 
Mako: Uh-uh… Heheheh, wow..! You look.. You look great.~
 
Bubble: giggles Aaw, how sweet.~ stands up As nice as sleep sounds, I have something better in mind we can do in bed…. Or right here.~ wraps her arms around his shoulders
 
Mako: purrs deeply and holds her close Now that’s an idea I can get behind.~ nuzzles her cheek and gives kisses on her neck Hehehe, any reason for the dress though? I wasn’t expecting you to wear this. running his hands down her sides
 
Bubble: Hmmm, I just wanted to dress nice for the occasion.~ Thought dressing up a little couldn’t hurt.~
 
Mako: Hehehe maybe not… But you know you don’t have to put on anything special for me, Imago.~
 
Bubble: ….. Who’s Imago…?
