Limestone Pie, the oldest and ̶c̶r̶u̶e̶l̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶ most responsible of the pie sisters, was ̶b̶u̶r̶d̶e̶n̶e̶d̶ ̶ entrusted with the hard, grueling work of running the family farm, which required a tough-as-nails-pony like Lime to make sure the job was done. However, if the work was difficult enough before, it was miserable now that two of her sisters had left, leaving only herself and Marble to manage. It took the stubborn mare nearly a year to face the facts; they desperately needed help. Eventually, she put up the overdue advertising flyers in all the major towns, not really expecting anypony to take the offer. I mean, who in their right mind would want to work day in and day out moving and cutting rocks? Bulk Biceps, apparently.

As a beefy body-builder, Bulk barely scrapes by on the part-time jobs he can get and since he’s not the brightest bulb in the box, he doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to begin with. Most of his jobs involve dealing with the public, causing him to restrain his natural strength and leaving him feeling constantly on edge. All he really wants is a job where he can freely express the fullness of his ginormous body mass without limitations and fear of lawsuits. Which is why Bulk found himself standing on a God-forsaken rock farm, staring down at a rather pretty, yet rather angry looking mare. Limestone could tell right away that the stallion was a few rocks short of a boulder, but he had the muscle mass and the drive to work, so she was reluctantly forced to hire him.

The months that followed went by smoothly…and by smoothly, I mean Limestone was constantly having to bark orders at the numbskull, clean up his messy mistakes, and begrudgingly listen to his petty going-ons about a bird he found or why rock music is the best. Not to mention, Limestone barely got a moment to herself with him following her around like an overgrown puppy dog. Still. despite being a brainless, annoying hunk, when it came to following Lime’s death threats orders, Bulk would do everything and anything she said, literally. It didn’t matter how lethal or grueling the work was, he would do it the minute she said so without question and Limestone definitely didn’t abuse this power. However, after a while, she began to suspect that Bulk had more motivation than just her being his boss and the more she thought about it, the more suspicious she got.

It didn’t take her too long to notice the way he looked at her with a sort of Lovestruck weird daze in his eyes, or how he’d sometimes get flustered when she’d check up on him for strictly professional reasons and not because watching him smash boulders with his bare skull was the sexiest thing she’s ever seen. All of Limestone’s suspicions lead to only one conclusion- a conclusion she wasn’t ready to face yet. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a choice in the matter, since she just so happened to stumble in upon Bulk carving their initials in a heart on a rock. With the cat out of the bag, Bulk decided to confess his long standing feelings for Lime in his own simple, obnoxiously loud way. As much as she was caught off guard by this, it was as if something inside her clicked. Despite all of his faults, Bulk had grown on her a bit. It couldn’t hurt to try out this ‘relationship’ thing, right? Limestone barely managed to squeak out that she would give Bulk a chance before she was met with a lung crush hugging from the stallion that, while it constricted her blood flow, simultaneously made her cheeks feel unusually flushed.

Despite their relationship not being chosen by the paring stone, as was customary, Igneous and Cloudy still gave their blessing on the two and the courtship was a go. It took Limestone a while to get used to the whole ‘sharing feelings’ and showing various displays of affection, but she’s a quick learner and although she likes to keep the mushy smooches and snuggles private, she’ll begrudgingly admit they’re not as frivolous and useless as she originally thought. Bulk was willing to date Lime for as long as she wanted, but Lime’s a pretty straightforward mare who used to making important decisions, and her decision pretty early on was that she wanted this handsome hulk to be her husbando. So not even a year later, after a rock based proposal and a very rock based, simple wedding, the two were hitched til kingdom come ̶o̶r̶ ̶e̶l̶s̶e̶. Bulk continues to work primarily on the farm, but now as co-manager and son-in-law, rather than a hired helper, and he’s quite content with his career choice of smashing rocks along side his freakishly strong waifu. Meanwhile, Limestone’s (secretly) grateful to finally no longer be alone and she’s sure that, no matter what comes their way, their rock soild relationship will be able to withstand it all.

Background Pony #7FDB
An unusual ship, but I like the story in the description. Can see it working well enough for the both of them even though Flutterbulk is my favorite ship for Bulk to be in, this is a reasonably good alternative.
