It’s just asinine when people who make their self inserts invincible because they either think of themselves so highly or can’t include some downsides to reflect that. Especially the alicorn OCs that are basically saying “I’m royalty”. A little modesty goes a long way.
I could easily make an oc that’s omnipotent and omniscient, but where’s the fun in a one sided battle?

Oh he or whatever the hell the gender better shut up, an oc is set up whatever a guy damn pleased him or her to be set up while establishing certain limits or weaknesses as to ensure fairness against the main cast (e.g. oc has total magic immunity but can still be beaten physically or via wits) imaginations are damn limitless and whether a character is overpowered or inferior is the guy’s own conception.

There’s a believable threat. Capable of taking on one to three of the mane 6 with moderate difficulty while taking damage.
If the OC enemy went on to defeat the mane 6 after dwindling their numbers and taking damage sure.

threat=/=imprisoning one of their strongest casters while knocking/sending two others flying while telepathically binding and lifting and zapping two others while chasing one away with a block while scaring the wings off one (Spike) while summoning an infinite number of more blocks.
The strongest member is so stunned by the overpowered bullshit that’s going on she’s not even bothering with attacking!
Contrary to popular belief, a villain oc can be a threat to canon characters. You just need to put some effort.
Absolutely. At least it’s “realistic” when you pit some random character against a team that beat Tirek, Discord, Nightmare Moon and other villains that are pretty well demigods, but no let’s have some human oc with wings knock 4 out and incapacitate one with ease.
You would prefer the overly played out ‘threatening villain oc turns out to be a pushover’ scenario?
