In this case it’s a beautiful word for an act of extreme kindness. Blaming Sonata for not knowing how to raise a child is foolish, she’s basically a child herself. Aria and Dagi should have known that, and taken steps to either raise it themselves or remove the child to someone who was at least capable of raising it.

That’s another thing it’s not even like Sonata has never been offended before. And if it’s one thing we’ve learned from the changelings it’s that they are capable of feasting off of each other’s love so why not the same for the sirens. Like Aria is always calling Sonata stupid and she always defends herself.

Which quite frankly doesn’t seems out of place with Sonata, but even then she looks more like an adult with the mind of a child who hasn’t developed empathy properly, and needs to face the consequences of her acts as well as some reality checks.

It doesn’t even make sense that the sirens would want to be hated. Sirens are suppose to be alluring. Their songs are meant to lure people to their dooms and in they’re song they say want to be adored. Feasting off of negative emotions is so counterproductive. I would think they would function more like changelings. Use their songs to coax their victims into a sense of infatuation and live off the love energy.

And yet somehow even though Adagio and Aria we’re also ‘monsters’ they were still better mother’s than sonata. They cared for them. Loved them. Looked after them until they could no longer. Sonata was basically like ‘Fuck you kid’ and the kid came around to be like ‘Fuck you Mom I hate you!’(justified) but since Sonata is an enabled slut(keeping it real) she ruins the only two kids she had and to this day is still an enabled slut

It’s probably more accurate than we got from the other two. These girls are quite literal predators giving birth to prey. Sonata was probably the happiest she’s been in that moment Melody told her she hated her because Sonata lives on draining negative emotions from others and her own child just fed her a banquet of them. We look at her and say “you monster”. Yeah, she is. But they all were. But they are human now, they’re questioning everything they have done as monsters only now.

I always knew Sonata was evil but I didn’t think she was the most irredeemable of the sirens. I mean she didn’t act any crueler then the other sirens did. Most people usually see her as the Heather Naknamara of the group. Just sort of rolls with the group because she doesn’t know any better. You know pack mentality.
 
I’m not sure how I feel about this portrayal.

Melody’s hairstyle kinda reminds me of Starlight Glimmer pre-reformation, it’d be interesting if somewhere down the line EQG’s Starlight was related to the Sirens.

That’s… that’s my point. In the films, all three were equally evil. Here, Sonata is the most evil, and is implied to have been the most evil even during the events of Rainbow Rocks (and far earlier than that, given the image), with only her stupidity keeping her from being a greater villain than the other two. That’s the difference between this and not only canon, but most other fan depictions.

In the movie, Sonata didn’t seem to care about anyone but herself, practically treating the damage she caused like it was just something to laugh at. In the above image, it’s the same. I’d say that’s a lot closer than the ‘poor, mistreated ditz’ rendition she gets over and over again.

Not… really. Don’t get me wrong, she wasn’t a good person in the film, but she wasn’t that much more evil than the other two. Here, she is, and it implies that she has been even before Adagio and Aria went down the path of redemption. Her stupidity was the only thing keeping her from being the biggest villain here.

I honestly wish they didn’t show this; I was fine with implications of comedic sociopathy in this arena without having to be smacked in the face with the reality of said abuse. She was supposed to be the sociopathic comedic relief to all the drama going on in the far more human Aria and Adagio’s lives.
 
But asides from this— over the top flirtation with grimderp, I actually found this version of the character quite a refreshing subversion. Usual trope is for Sonata to be the most redeemable one of the trio. Here, Sonata is the most evil of the three. However, until now, this has been usually played for laughs.
 
Like, holy shit, Aria and Adagio better cut her tubes! And take that kid off her hands!
