I know this comment is a couple of months old, and I very much do not want to rekindle the whole debate on the ych thing, but please, speak up if you don't like something about a work of art! As a artist, having someone respectfully tell me what they like or don't like about one of my pieces is FAR more valuable to me than complete silence and a rating or something. I want to improve, and that's extremely hard to do when nobody ever says anything about what I did right or wrong.
That said, as a finished piece, this one is a bit of a favorite to come back to, hehe~ The voice acting matches up with the animation perfectly, it really polishes things up
@scbb92 Did you not unmute the audio on the video? If you did, then check if the tab is muted. If it is not, then check the volume of your medium, whether it be a phone, a computer, or something else. Next, check if what you're using to hear it (headphones, speakers, etc.) is properly connect. Then, if you're using speakers or headphones that have audio adjustment options on them, check to make sure that they are unmuted and at an audible volume. If, after all of that, you still can't hear it, use a different browser. If that doesn't work, swap from what you're on (computer, phone, etc.) to something else. Then, if that still doesn't work, then either you need hearing aids or you're in a loud environment that drowns out the noise.
@Background Pony #DBF3 And I appreciate it, but like I said, you can direct feedback to places other than this comment thread since this is a thread about this picture and not my moderation abilities.
I do my best. It's all I can do. That's all I want to say on this topic here.
@Background Pony #DBF3 I'm sorry if you think I made mistakes. However, arguing over my moderation ability is driving this comment section off-topic. You can direct criticisms of the staff to the forums or PMs.
Please keep all further discussion and feedback of the picture on-topic. Thank you.
@Nittany Discord Deleting already made comments would be silencing past discussion. Making vague demands to stop discussion with the implied threat of moderator action is silencing future discussion. Both are silencing.
@Nittany Discord "I don’t feel I was silencing anyone. I was just telling all parties to drop the debate" That's called silencing, especially when the people you warned the second time weren't even being particularly uncivil and your demand to "drop the drama" was pretty vague.
@2tailedD3rpy I'm aware that some of the comments were valid criticism. However, I felt the discussion had gone into an unwinnable flame war. That's why I told people to just drop it. I didn't delete any comments, and I don't intend to unless necessary as I don't feel the initial comment that gave feedback was a Rule #0 violation.
I don't feel I was silencing anyone. I was just telling all parties to drop the debate over the price vs. quality as it was going south fast.
I didn't want to take sides on this matter either, so I didn't leave a comment regarding the argument. I think both sides have a point, though.
I guess the worst thing about criticism is how easily it can turn into insults and spark flame wars and how hard it can be sometimes to pick out valid criticism from insults.
@SnoopyStallion I agree. I think that unless someone is outright insulting the artist about them and their work anything should be allowed to be said. If the artist doesn't want to hear it they shouldn't silence the users. That's what they do over on Deviant Art, and honestly, I hate it. You don't improve as an artist if you censor criticism. If the artist doesn't like whats being said but it's not an outright verbal attack then you know what? There is an unsubscribe button at the top of the page. Click it.
@Princess Trixie vi Equestria >"let’s all focus on the art and leave the judging to the ones actually responsible for the piece." Well, then we might as well chuck the whole point of criticism and comments out the window. Being an artist I know that when you finish something you don't see many flaws in it. You need other people to tell you what is wrong, what is right, and what could be done better next time. you can choose to listen and improve your art, or you can silence anyone who doesn't like it and end up like Deviant Art where the only comments are "good job" and every single piece of art looks the same.
On the topic of the price and all that, I do agree that if the buyer has no problem then it doesn't matter, but that doesn't give one the right to silence those who have an opinion. Point blank, if it's not directly insulting the artist or buyer (like calling them a bitch or something) then it doesn't really matter and it doesn't violate any rules. Let the people be.
Just because an argument gets a tad bit heated doesn't mean its bad. Only once they start insulting each other do the rules really say its bad.
@Princess Trixie vi Equestria Except that some of us are trying to give art critiques, and then some of us are just adding fuel to the fire, respectfully
@Princess Trixie vi Equestria since when are auctions some sort of funding. you buy something. just like a commission. its definetly not something like patreon to support an artist.
and the comments were also just criticizing his art. no drama. therefore simply free speech and nothing to kill down by mods and admins. the animation isnt really good and doesnt match his past animations. and the ych description didnt say, you get what you see. so a lot of things went wrong here. and the artists doesnt even care about constructive criticism and just sass around and defend himself with stupid excuses. this is really not the best he could deliver. that statement just killed it. so yeah.
This was an ych auction, the whole point of it is to fund the artist much like patreon reward deal, there also is the whole aspect of feeling good about getting it from an artist of big name and showing a big shoot with 500 dollars to burn on it.
The cost vs final art however does not represent the value, the value is in giving in your own way as far as you can for a piece from someone you care for and not only likes the art but would also feel good about "funding" it all even if shortly.
From all that the previous comments both the artist and the auction winner are satisfied, further complains from third party getting it all for free is a bit selfish; personally, let's all focus on the art and leave judging to the ones actually responsible for the piece.
it's only got two digits, so obviously it maxxed out at 99.

If I had deleted all of the comments, then I'd consider that silencing.

You know what's ironic tho is that Deviantart has a selection for allowing critiques, but they're horrible at catching art theft
because the OC is transgender
