The book’s largely about testing Job, to see if he truly loves God or not; to see if Job is only praising God since things are going well for Job, unlike Job’s wife who said “Curse God and die” shortly after the good things (Job’s livelihood and their children, and more, IIRC) went out the door. Mind, I don’t think I understand the whole book, but that is how it starts out.
Or would you rather see Churches who spend their congregation money not to help people and help the needy, but spend it on a stupid private jet of luxury for absolutely no one but themselves? The likeness of such (having excess, having luxury without helping people) was one of the sins of Sodom.
Job’s sad days are kinda like testing gold for its purity. Is it real, or is it a fake?

Good point, at least that what it looks like he’s compared to a human. When considering something like god it’s best not to compare him to human since a mind of infinite scale would not resemble ours in any capacity. Besides, to him all of job’s life and family would’ve been an infinitetisimal nothing compared to everything else, kinda hard to see his pain as significant when you see ALL pain that has been, is, ever will be, and could’ve been. And if you send them to eternal paradise then any finite suffering would be viewed as irrelevant to something that sees ALL. God would most likely have a “fatalistic” outlook, at least that’s the closest we could get to understanding it

Yah, but considering go sent him to eternal paradise in the end I’d say he more than repayed him

Job would have got that anyway. If the Bible tells us anything is that God is an insecure and petty bitch.

I lol’ed. The Spike-Job (-Krillin) connection is perfect: utterly loyal, will tank the hit, damn humorous to see it through. Like Job, Spike comes out the other side with gains and we are all edified by the story.
