Pretty much, Twilight going the typical abusive parent route of “shout at the kid for being the way I don’t like” for dark magic is really OOC.

Why does Twilight have a goatee?

I think the biggest issue with this idea is that in the show while dark magic (which I would think that Necromancy would be considered) is considered dangerous and hard to control, it’s not considered completely evil to use. Celestia and Twilight have both used it successfully and if you want to take the comics into account there is a restricted wing of the library with dark magic books in it. Implying, at least to me, that while it’s restricted in use it’s not illegal or completely unusable, even by non-alicorns.
 
I think Twilight would be more about learning how to control his powers and when the right and wrong time to use it is.

I’d like to think Twilight would be a tad bit more supportive of her son. Especially if her husband is Big Mac. I mean come on: family is everything.

Seriously, do you want supervillians? There are many ways to deal with Dash’s midlife crisis beyond giving her another target for the Rainbow Beam of Fix Everything™.
