Ignore the POV of the comic. Rewind. Play this from Granny Smith’s POV.
 
You’re somewhere, and you learn that the retirement home catches fire. The firefighters come to control the blaze. But for some reason, you feel the need to rush off to where your granddaughter is camping and tell her and her two friends, three children, about it like they can do something.
 
Because this is somehow a perfectly reasonable state of affairs, said youngsters drop what they are doing and immediately run at fully granny speed back to the retirement home. Where the danger has passed, and the situation is under control.
 
The firefighter apparently in charge of the situation decides to give information to said children instead of ignoring them and/or shoeing them away. Again, because there is some expectation that this is a useful thing to do. Like it is any of their business.
 
The residents having been taken care of is a nice thing to happen. It does show the expected Apples’ hospitality, but had nothing to do with the CMC and could have been handled by Granny Smith just hanging out until the firefighters finished, then talking to the elderly displaced residents directly.
 
That’s the issue here. It’s dumb. The CMC are getting involved because of bad writing, not because of anything that actually makes any kind of sense.
 
Instead of starting the story where they did, how about after the camping trip ends, Apple Bloom goes home, where there are guests at SAA. Granny Smith tells her why, but the unknown culprit still at large worries her. The CMC then decide to get involved, as they do. Whatever happens next can still happen next, but isn’t the result of bad writing, but believable characterization.

Because the firefighter is speaking directly to the CMC who have next to no connection with this other than Granny Smith friends live there and for some reason she told the CMC about this during a camping activity as if they expect them to do something about all this

And where did you get that impression from this preview? I’m assuming the firefighters will conduct their own investigation, and the protagonists will come up with the true culprit.

So arson cases are now just handed out to kids who happened to wonder onto the scene?
