”…of course, it is rarely advantageous to be caught in one’s own chitin, especially in such a state as one would be immediately distrusted. Should one be discovered without ones guise, one should, ideally, seek to bring the witness in line with one’s objectives. To this end, a good first impression is paramount in the initial communications. Supposing that:
 
1) The witness is ignorant of the nature of one’s objective or of changeling in a more general sense  
2) One has not been witnessed in the process of shapeshifting  
3) One is not being actively pursued  
and 4) That the witness is not immediately hostile or otherwise distrustful
 
One should attempt, first of all, to appear harmless. One such method is to adopt a positive expression, supressing one’s external signs of shock, fright or hostility, to bring the one into the witness’s immediate favour. For best affect, one should attempt to appear innocent, playful, weak, modest, “cute”, shy, affable, seductive and/or enthusiastic (note: Not all at once, see section 14). The immediate endearment of the creature to one should, on most occasions, be assured. This tactic is especially effective when the witness is mammalian, as mammals are naturally drawn towards such displays of positivity.”
