Maybe I was just tired. I thought it was some kind of two-headed centaur pegasus thing. Thought the shield was armor.

What do you think is more appropriate for my style?

The style and the theme do not mix well. Far too dark, and the level of detail on the various elements of the image vary. Just to mention an example of this compare the details on the background, the building doesn’t look so blurry and just in front of us the faces or what can be seen of the faces have much higher detail than the arms and weapon of the character to the left. The head piece of the character to the right and the symbol of the left arm of the other one have an unusual and not matching level of detail that is unnecessary to convey anything. The characters do not convey anything which is worse when you consider that one is seemingly using a weapon (flamethrower?) in a position that requires some level of kneeling, perhaps as if hiding but the other one looks to the viewer in a calm manner.
