That’s a good point from an ecological perspective. But what makes aluminum advantageous to recycle is that it’s more expensive to produce from virgin materials (bauxite, er something) than from already-processed aluminum.

The aluminum will rust or turn to dust over the years, leaving a fine powder that will sink into the earth and become aluminum ore as the dirt it has been mixed with becomes stone. Same with glass, it will dissolve into particles of silica and mix with dirt, returning it’s self to sand… Entropy is a fundamental law of physics, everything is recycled.
