well, the thing is..this character is a double trap, actually. between American and Japanese versions of the game, Kaine was a different gender in both. male in one, female in the other…so, in essence, kaine’s basically able to be considered a herm.

also, from what I hear, the game erases its own save data if you get the 100% ending.

With Nier, Cavia finally developed a game where both the writing and gameplay were fun, rather than one or the other. And then they were dissolved by their parent company right afterwards.
