Nah, you’re right. My thoughts are more about how I see the characters. Twilight the bookworm and good with magic reminds me of Indian mythology, Pinkie Pie could be one of this super kawaii over-energetic asian girl stereotypes and so on. :-D

Uh, let’s play (skin) color change. I go first:

AppleJack = Caucasian (with sunburn ^^)
Twilight = Indian
Rarity = Caucasian / Latin
Pinkie Pie = Asian
Fluttershy = Caucasian / Asian
Rainbow Dash = Latin / African

Considering this artwork I just have my doubts about Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. But that’s only my personal opinion. :-D
