I really hope that wings for dragon be somenthing that they gain by puberty or any other kind of physical maturity. And this scene was something like when Dexter artificially grow a beard with science.
 

Part of me hopes he uses his fire and sends the roc to Celestia like he used to do with Twi’s letters. Just to see how Celly reacts to having that monstrosity dropped into her lap.

Sometimes I have the feeling the Royal Guards don’t even care about Twilight like they don’t even take orders from her or any thing…. not only she never has any of them with her the few times she’s actually in Canterlot with them around they just w/e on her.
 
For example that episode she was hard working on Canterlot and took some time to sleep and rest leaving Spike in charge, isn’t it surprising how a mob of angry ponies literally breaks into the Royal castle, gets to her front door and not a single guard bothered with it… like oh my god a Riot! oh wait its against that purple alicorn one not Celestia or Luna so nobody cares w/e.

Idea: Spike becomes Captain of the Guards for Princess Twilight Sparkle in the Castle of Friendship. Imagine him commanding his own Royal Guard unit.

I know I am ecstatic about it.  
Everyone’s free to have their opinion of course, but to me personally, a western dragon (eastern ones are different) doesn’t really look that good without wings. So for years I always mantained the firm belief that it was an age thing and Spike would someday grow them naturally. And I know many who thought that way too.
 
So you can imagine how incredibly amazing it is for us to finally get this episode. I would’ve still liked him as a character even if he didn’t get them (I have for years), but damn it feels good to know he’s not getting cheated out of one of the most iconic and defining dragon traits. Now we know our Spike will one day be one of those giant, majestic, flying creatures of ancient myths.

I think they will continue Gen 4 in the comics as a way of saying “Shut up and stop complaining!” to the ones who are unable to accept Gen 5 is coming in the start of the next decade.
