My point is if it’s only purpose is to just slow down the player it really shouldn’t be in a game. It’d be like if in a Mario game, Mario’s legs would get tired if you jumped too frequently and you’d just have to stop and wait a little bit for them to not be tired anymore :P

Ok, I see how that works in Zelda’s case, but that doesn’t mean ALL stamina meters that drain when you sprint should be banned. You said it yourself…

It depends on how it’s used. If it’s a game where limiting or regulating your ability to run is functional, like the horse race in Ocarina of Time, or a horror game where limiting your sprinting forces you to actually face the monster from time to time instead of just running away all the time I’m totally fine with it. All tying your sprinting to a stamina meter in a Zelda game does is slow you down for the sake of it and make it so running from point a to point b will take five minutes instead of three. It’s not a functional part of the game; it just slows you down for the sake of slowing you down. If their logic is “realism”, like in real life you can’t sprint full-snort without tiring out, well, it’s not exactly realistic that Link can take a 20 foot long sword swung by a lynel to the gut and not be bisected either. :P
