Description

Of all the Mane Six’s aspirations as listed on Hasbro’s My Little Pony website, Applejack’s is the least explored. As depicted on the show and illustrated here, she greatly values family and honesty. Yet, it may surprise some viewers that raising a family would be listed as Applejack’s aspiration given her lack of interest in romance. While this does not necessarily mean that she will get a special somepony on the show, the idea of Applejack being open to a relationship in the future is an intriguing possibility.
 
Discussion: Assuming Applejack does get a special somepony of her own in the future, how would you like to see the relationship be handled? What are your thoughts and predictions on how it could potentially go? What background and characterization would you like to see in Applejack’s special somepony?

Not everything has to be shown onscreen. This whole “married to her work” is probably one of my most hated headcanons (to me). It feels so lazy. And it seems like it arose because she didn’t seem interested in Trenderhoof, even though he had nothing she would find attractive. To me I like the idea of an AJ looking forward to being a mom. How many tomboys do you see having aspirations like that? I think it’s truly interesting.

I agree with your theories on Applejack waiting for Apple Bloom to accept more responsibilities and giving Big Mac a chance with romance first.
 
Besides the stallions in Ponyville, let’s not forget the possibility of stallions from other parts of Equestria who might visit Ponyville.

I’ve always considered that Applejack would want to raise a family, since her own family is so important to her. But the reason she hasn’t begun a relationship yet is because she’s dedicating herself to running the farm. She wants to wait for a romance until she can be sure the farm can function even without her constant supervision. Thus, she is waiting for Apple Bloom to grow more and be able to do more on the farm to pick up any slack Applejack would leave. Also, she is waiting to let Big Mac have his own romance because he’s older. These are just my theories.  
AJ probably realizes how attractive she is to stallions around Ponyville and doesn’t think that it would be hard for her to find a mate down the road… but will there be many eligible stallions when she’s ready for love?
