Seriously now. That which brings out the beauty in things is either delusion or rational thought depending on whether a thing can be seen as good or not which is subjective. My stool could become pretty flowers so there is something good about it but love doesn’t do that but photosynthesis and such. We need observation in order to appreciate the process. Emotion is not the source of genius but indeed without it we wouldn’t appreciate beauty. Not all geniuses are artists and strive for something that is beautiful but not functional. Functionality requires rational thought although it can be seen as beautiful, too. Imagination and intelligence would be worthless if they didn’t create results and they do and emotion has a track record of screwing people over.

If you don’t feel love when listening to some of Mozarts work, you are either deaf or unworthy of being called a human being. Love practically bursts from his work.

If you have all the love in the world but you are dumb and have no imagination then you are no genius. That’s just common sense. I bet we would have a lot more geniuses if love was all that was neeeded. I don’t get what’s supposed to be cynical about that either.

The cynicism is strong in that one…
