This relationship grew from an old friendship starting during their infancies. Princess Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship, of course wanted her daughter and the son of one of her best friends, Rainbow Dash, to become as close as their mothers, and so as soon as the children could walk, Twilight set up play dates. Alongside their best friend Pinni Pie, daughter of Pinkie Pie, Feather and Dawn experienced life together: their first words, their first days of school, their rebellious stages, etc. As the three grew older, Feather himself began to see his close friend Dawn as more that just a friend, but a pony worth more than anything else in the world. Feather realized these feelings after Dawn was kidnapped by a radical pony: Feather felt a deep panic for his friend only comparable to her parents, the young and scrawny stallion even wanting to fly across Equestria to find Dawn. Thankfully Dawn was rescued without harm, and the young princess’s friends were constantly by her side as she both recovered from the trauma and accepted her new, more sheltered life created by her fearful parents. Feather visited Dawn every day since that event, helping his dear friend in anyway he could, even volunteering to be her personal guard! The trio of friends all graduated school together and although they remained close friends, they each went on separate paths. Feather managed to keep his crush secret for almost a decade, and he wanted to keep it this way since the stallion felt that, despite his closeness to the unicorn, Dawn was still a princess. Somehow Pinni learned of this secret crush and vowed to both herself and even to Feather that the unicorn and pegasus would one day be together. That day will come only a few years later when surprisingly Dawn confessed her feelings to Feather, feelings exactly the same as Feather’s own. These confessions spark a serious relationship, one which of course parents Twilight and Rainbow approve of between their babies.

Although Aegis Frost and Pinni Pie did not officially meet until they were adults, the two have been in each other’s presence numerous times before at the Tasty Treat. Growing up in Canterlot, Frost accompanied his parents Trixie and AltoStratus to the luxuries of the unicorn city: nice clothes, colorful shows, and fine dinning. On the request of her friend Pinkie Pie, one day Trixie took her son to the Tasty Treat to sample the exotic comfort food. Meanwhile, Pinni Pie spent most of her weekends learning from and helping her Aunt Saffron in the kitchen of the Tasty Treat, and so occasionally saw the grey unicorn colt and Trixie when they visited. Loving the food so much, Trixie decided to return to the Tasty Treat at least once a week with her son. Since Saffron wanted Pinni to experience more than the kitchen, she would usually get her little assistant to join Trixie at the dinner table, hoping that the children would get along. The children in fact did get along, and this little tradition lasted for a few years until Trixie suddenly stopped showing up to the Tasty Treat. Upon learning that Frost suddenly showed up at the house of her Aunt Maud without his mother Trixie, Pinni only saw Frost during holidays, and even then the two did not commingle. When the two ponies grew into adults, Pinni took a year under a scholarship to tour Equestria to learn exotic cuisine, meanwhile the grey stallion was accepted and trained under the Royal Guard. After a couple years of separation, the two would meet once again at the all familiar Tasty Treat where Pinni was an assistant chef and Frost a royal guard in Canterlot. The two reconciled and began to grow a deep friendship/early romantic relationship through a love of food.
