Personality/Background:  
Solar Ray is the only child of Lightning Dust and Dumbbell. Growing up, her mother always pressured her into being the best and joining the Wonderbolts. Solar always enjoyed flying, but she secretly likes chemistry and making things explode. She’s a bit of a pyromaniac and tends to “accidentally” set things on fire during her science experiments.
 
Solar Ray is a pretty excitable, flashy mare. She is always talking loudly and loves to be the center of attention. Deep down, she just wants to be accepted and loved for who she is.
 

 
Relationships:  
Solar Ray loves her mother, Lightning Dust. She desperately wants to make her proud but can never seem to do it. Solar is never fast enough, never strong enough, and never good enough. This causes Ray a great deal of stress and anxiety over her career as a Wonderbolt. It doesn’t help that Solar Ray secretly wishes to be a chemist instead. If her mother were to ever find out that she doesn’t want to be a Wonderbolt….
 
Dumbbell is definitely the relaxed parent. He doesn’t quite care whether Solar Ray is a Wonderbolt or not, as long as she’s successful and happy. However, because of his indifference, Solar sometimes feels as if her father doesn’t care about her at all.
 
Ray was accepted into the Wonderbolts at the same time as Stormbolt, Rainbow Dash’s son. The two have a fierce rivalry, and Solar Ray constantly teases Stormbolt about how she’s faster and better than he is. However, Solar only really does it because she has a crush on him. Solar Ray never really learned how to express herself properly and doesn’t know how to tell Stormbolt that she likes him.
