3000 years after the MLP:FiM storyline, one may find Equestria really changed - first, it’s really futuristic country with some space colonies, sci-fi technologies and most of the food being raised in special laboratories. Second - the magic was simply forgotten and unicorns use only something resembling weak telekinesis, pegasi can’t control weather or live on clouds anymore and earth ponies… Well, they simply don’t have any fertile grounds to work on, so without any hard labours they’ve grown much weaker than before. And, since the two Alicorn princesses were banished away by some greedy power-seeking ponies, there were simply no one to stop the Lord of Chaos, named Discord, from taking away the whole kingdom and driving it into total chaos and despair. Well, almost all the kingdom, since he thought it would be boring not to leave some rebels here and there to fight him.  
And so, one group of rebels, the Violet Wing, in their seek for something that could defeat the tyrant, found a lost artifact, the mantle of Twilight Sparkle, the legendary Hero who once fought Discord and sealed him away in stone. The rebel scientists found a way to return Twilight back to life using some cells and energy remains left on her mantle - only to find out, that the process wasn’t very… Safe. Well, maybe there were a sabotage from some Discord’s spies, or something.  
The Violet Wing lost many of it’s scientists in the large explosion that happened and only with some pure luck the experiment itself were just moderately damaged-so, with just some cyber implants, the legendary hero Twilight Sparkle was brought back to life… Not that she liked it so much, especially when she found out that she’s 3000 years in the future, all her friends were surely dead and her mentor princess Celestia was simply banished from Equestria and was nowhere to be found…
