brown is any orange with low lightness, and her coat is more orange than pure yellow, but more yellow than pure orange. “light gold” is the name they give for it. at any rate, it’s a color an ordinary horse could have.

her colors are so genius… try to make a pony who shares that fur color. you can’t. you can sit there with your color wheels, and hue sliders, and even the slightest deviation from that combination of grey, magenta, and olive gold looks awful. flipping through random colors for hours, never finding anything that works. she’s the color of an old map, of a wooden globe from east india, of the sunlight filtering in through the window of some great explorer’s private study.
 
she’s a brown horse with black hair! how the heck can her colors be so freaking compelling…
